The Gate 1 Monarch Empress was built in 2016, it is sleek and modern, not as large as most of the myriad passenger boats that cruise the Danube. We had the French balcony cabin, all glass wall with a sliding glass door. Instead of an...More

This is one huge river!!! Apparently you can boat all the way from Amsterdam and get off at Budapest. On my bucket list now.

Before I describe this absolutely wonderful cruise, let me explain that we had the best weather every day of the week. The week before was very rainy, the week before that cold, the week before that scorching. The weather makes or breaks a scenic cruise...More

Rising from the Danube, Szentendre with its twisted Mediterranean street plan & picture-perfect Baroque houses – has a distinct “Balkan” feel. It offers a taste of the Hungarian village life & is an excellent contrast to the bustling Budapest – without being too far from...More

We did the evening 'champagne ' cruise. The cruise takes 1 hour and passes all the main buildings and bridges that are floodlit by orange sodium lights. There is no other way to get these views.

The lighting on the buildings and bridges at night is stunning. We had a river cruise and the views were breath taking. The sight of the birds circling above the buildings was incredible. Photos do not do it justice.

If you can ride a bicycle I would highly recommend that you rent one for the day. The river has a bike path along it and with so much to see it would benefit you to see many parts of the city with quick ease...More

What a beautiful river. It's wider than I thought and quite lovely with all the amazing buildings along it. It's busy with cafes, restaurants, boats, river cruisers, speed boats, bars and music. It has everything going on. Lovely promenades to walk down or travel by...More
