We visited the Fire Tower on a lark. The history of the tower is quite interesting and you have to go to the top. We did it right before sundown. The view is spectacular! We stayed until after dark and the view was even better. The lights of Sopron and those of Austria on the horizon were almost hypnotic. A... More

Climb the stairs (116) and you will see the splendid view on the city of spires. The admission is not expensive, 1150HUF for an adult. When climbing the stairs look at the walls when the tower history is decribed.

It's definitely worth a trip up the fire tower to see the 360 views over the city. It was 1150 ft per person (approx. Half price for students). It's a short climb up the narrow staircases to the viewing platform of the tower (you can't actually get to the very top) and there are a fair amount of pictures with... More

Not so far from our hotel during our walk, we found this beautiful tower at a picturesque square with many restaurants and Caffé house.

This tower is located in the city centre in the midst of Roman structure. There is a walkway that takes you throughout the area, even through restaurants outdoor cafes. If you are able walk up to the top-there is a million dollar view of the surrounding landscape of house, churches and agricultural plains. Enjoy!

The Fire Tower and surrounding district is full of history form roman and medieval times. Spend at least a day wandering around and enjoying the area.

While in Vienna, I decided to visit Sopron. There are convenient trains from Vienna Hauptbanhof that take you to Sopron in just over one hour. Once in Sopron, the old town is in walking distance from the railway station. The Fire Tower and the main square (Fő tér) are the main view of the city. The tower is nice from... More

You can climb up it and get a good view of the surrounds. Great for photography and iit's right near the Goat Church, Storno House and The Trinity Statue. It's a nice place to stop for lunch and just watch the people of Sopron.
