This summer the town was awoken, having remembered some traditions of artist generations lived there. This museum is the heart of changes. It keeps collection of Ferenczy family, amazing pieces, especially sculptures that are living, moving, reflecting emotions in spite of the fact they are not able to make even a small movement. However, step by step new sculptures, items forming... More

We visited this museum largely because of our shared family name. I was impressed, however, by the museum. The art collection is well presented in a way that describes the influences on the various family artists, and the facility is excellent. During our visit, the downstairs rooms also had an exhibit of local gothic architecture, but this was only labeled... More

I bought the pass to see all the museums in town. They didn't have a map so it was a bit of a hunt for them. This has a small decent collection. But annoyingly I had to pay extra to take photos. There are a few interesting pieces. But nothing worth going out of your way for.

This is a nice collection of the works by the Ferenczy family. Follow the recommended sequence of rooms, and read the descriptions in each room - you will see an interesting family history inter-twinned with several regime changes and two world wars. Tip: For whatever reason, the first photo on this WEB page shows the "Kmetty Museum" not the Ferenczy... More

I bought a museum pass ticket to go to a different museum, but spotted this one on my way to the train station. I'm certainly glad I went in! It was full of wonderful, high-quality art. Some of the best I've seen. I recognised some of the work from the National Gallery in Budapest. It's a shame they don't allow... More

Beautifully renovated museum swimming in light, a real refreshment in the busy rush. My 4 year old daughter pulled me into this museum at one of our regular trips to Szentendre, getting interested by the Ferenczy sculpture of a boy in the garden. I generally enjoy visiting exhibitions and thought I would have to wait more for my daughter to... More

Szentendre, Hungary is a nice half day trip from Budapest on 'The green line'. The railway has a separate station just across the Danube on the Buda side. You have to walk about 1 km from the train station, just head straight out in the same direction the train arrived and you walk into the town. See the bottom half... More

I have fallen in love with this family of artists - a father (Karoly Ferenczy), his wife, and their twin (Beni, a sculptor and Naomi a textile specialist) and their brother Valer , a painter. Their art is exquisite - Karoly's is called Plein Air - a sort of expresssionist/impressionist genre created at the end of the 19th century/early 20th... More

The Ferenczy family (father, son, and twin brother&sister) has a prestigious place in the art history of the country. Their lives have also been closely linked to Szentendre. A musuem dedicated to their work has recnetly re-opened, a bit away from the centre, not far from the end of the pedestrian street (the southern end, towards Budapest). The building is... More

I happened upon the Karoly Ferenczy Museum on our recent trip tp Szentendre from Budapest. I was overwhelmed by the quality of the work by this family. Everything is displayed in a calm fashion with information about the works in both Hungarian and English. Also, the information about the family members is most interesting. Everything in the town is overpriced,... More
