UFO bridge

Another icon of Bratislava - the modern one - unfortunatelly we didn't see the observatory on top. Nice views to Dunabe from the bridge.

Popped down to the river from our hotel and saw the bridge at night. It looked stunning with the reflection on the still Danube waters. Unfortunately, during the day it is what it is, a metal and concrete bridge with an odd observation platform.

...not much else to say. Out of all the beautiful things to see in Bratislava the fact that this 1970's tarmac and concrete monstrosity has 5* reviews baffles me. It's a bridge like any other, in a city with a big river. I've given it 3* because it's useful, we used it twice to cross the river. It's windy and... More

We went for a walk along the path to get some photos of the Danube. The bridge is nothing special and it can be rather noisy with the traffic rumbling overhead and also vibrates quite a lot. But it gives lovely views of the Danube river. You can walk up one side and then back the other side to get... More

We walked along the path which is suspended away from the traffic and gives lovely views of the river. It can be rather noisy with the traffic rumbling overhead and also vibrates quite a lot. But the perfect way to get from the old town to the lift to the observation deck in the tower.

This bridge itself is really nothing particularly special. It functions effectively as a means of allowing traffic to cross over the Danube. The UFO tower may hold some interest as a tourist attraction, but there's little of interest to the tourist here.

Even if the word "new" is in its name, the bridge of the Slovak National Uprising is not so new. It was built between 1967 and 1972 so it has now almost half-a-century! At the time of its construction, it was the world's second asymmetric cable-stayed bridge, according to locals (don't ask me what was the first one at that... More

It's a road bridge over the Danube in Bratislava. It is an asymmetrical cable-stayed bridge with a main span length of 303 m. A special attraction is the flying saucer-shaped structure housing a restaurant, which since 2005 has been called UFO. The restaurant is reached using an elevator and offers a good view over Bratislava. Nový Most has four lanes... More
