Quiet, nice, funny but a little bit expensive
Last weekend I've been for the second time in Bratislava, the Old Town is nice, during the morning and afternoon quiet and during the evening and night funny in the pubs, bars and discoteque. The prices are more or less like in Milano, so everything it's a little bit expensive. Only beer is very cheap

    Small old town.
When discussing what to see and do and how long we needed in Bratislava, my son who had been there said you only need a day maximum to see it and he was right. We got to Bratislava at midday on the bus, got to and checked into our hotel and then went out to see the old town. We did a lot in just one afternoon and was thankful we had planned the next morning to go to Devin Castle to take up some time. The next afternoon, we finished off the old town sightseeing quite quickly. It is a lovely and quaint old town but its just not a large place and can be seen relatively quickly and in some depth.

Bratislava old town is worth your visit.
Bratislava is a small City, so everything is within walking distance. The old town area has a lot of interesting buildings and numerous Churches. Restaurants, cafes and bars are in great numbers

Pleasant Old town for a half day
I went to Bratislava on a day trip from Vienna. The weather was glorious and it was a nice old town. There was a festival going on. I enjoyed walking around and walked up to the castle as well. I just wonder over time, how memorable or what would I tell someone to say it is so unique? I don't have that answer yet, but my gut is it will just be remembered as typical cute European old town. Only real negative is and probably more me, it is a bit of a walk from the train station and when going back, got a little lost even trying to use Google maps.

    Quirky and different.
Lovely pleasant stroll through the Old Town. I would recommend entering the town through the beautiful St. Michael’s Gate and take your time to walk down towards the Danube. Some nice cafe’s. Quirky statues are great. The Jewish Memorial near St. Martin’s Cathedral is very moving. Take your time and take it all in.

    Cozy small lovely Old Towh
Bratislava Old Town is lovely with many restaurants, cafes & souvenir shops. It’s only a couple of blocks long, so can be visited within 2-3 hours. Perfect for day trips of one-night stay before moving on. Be aware that some restaurants/ shops only take cash payment - not credit card. The Bratislava castle is next to it uphill as well.

    A Must
I visited in May 2023. The medieval Old Town is a must as is the Slavin Monument. The city has good train connections from the main train station to elsewhere in the country and elsewhere. The castle has been rebuilt in the last few years. The castle grounds are free but give a good viewing point over the Old Town. A viewing platform between the castle and modern city hall gives a good view of the Danube.

A pleasant few hours in a lovely place.
We only stopped here for a few hours but many of us on our escorted tour commented on how much we enjoyed it. I particularly enjoyed the variety of statues. There are many interesting buildings to wander round and admire. There are also some lovely little shops with a great choice of unusual things, and nice places to eat. A most pleasant time in a lovely place.

Plenty of beautiful streets to walk around in. The main square with the old town hall and quirky statues lies at the heart of the old town. Most sites are within walking distance including the Bratislava Castle, St Martins Cathedral and Michael’s Gate.

Plenty of cafes, bistros and souvenir shops in the place to chill out in.

Excellent view, really old traditional town. Small souvenir shops inside, modern Cafe-bars, beautiful buildings. Empty memory cards recommended for hundred photo shots. Dunabe beside the city is absolutely a dream. Try UFO bridge.

very nice atmosphere, very expensive prices, there should be more signs on the road. And perhaps more taxis.
People need to love life more and chill in this city.
It is a beautiful semi modern city, very cold people and some are racists. Foreign workers are nicer and welcoming. Funny to think in this modern day and era native workers seem to have prejudice for certain ethnicities.
Good luck getting more tourists with this mindset.
All in all I would not think to come back again. It doesn’t suit my taste.
The train is complicated to be used.

We visit Bratislava for a new year holidays. We were not positive surprised with this city, we expected more kindness from local professional people ( hotel receptionist, taxi drivers , waitress etc, all they care is to charge high and do as nothing as possible. New year expectations on main square in old city were without program and music what we didn't experience in other Citys for new year expectations. We were little disappointed but overall 6 of 10 is our score, absolutely not recommend for new year. Prices are pretty high for what you get. If they could they would charge for air... ;)

Superb city break with my daughter.
Things to know...
A Bratislava card for two days was 26 euro each and allowed free bus and tram travel all over the city, you just carry it, no need to insert or show the driver, also allows a good % off of things like castle, museums, UFO tower etc etc, highly recommend it if you are seeking attractions.
The food was fantastic everywhere we ate, examples were the El Goucho Argentine restaurant🤷, Parlament Restaurant was good but be ultra specific of what you want as it's easy to have the wrong dish delivered🤷, Underground Burger cafe, hands down the most delicious burger I have ever had 👌
We visited the ww2 memorial at twighlight beautiful and emotional and an incredible view, take an uber it's a mental up hill walk.
Castle building/museum was great we spent ages in there. Keep in mind a lot of attractions are up hill, I never walked so many steps 😄. On the hill up to the castle there are at least three small local bars which we checked out, Andy's bar for example was cozy and inviting. We also tried 17s, bar'rock and the blind pig (speakeasy from war time), this bar goes down way down about two levels quite an experience.
We tried Bratislava rolls, like sweet half bagels with almond and something like cake mix, my daughter liked them, me not so much..
our BnB was just down from the castle and was more than efficient. We took a bus around the south side of the river to see where the mass of the city live very eastern block style flats and mostly in great condition, it appears to be a thriving city.
The UFO tower was fab, great view, could've stayed up there for ages.
My daughter was able to work out the public transport really well and is a fantastic system, rather envious of it with their tram system and buses, Uber was also very good and not overly expensive.
Food not particularly cheap but not too expensive either, (I'll photo some receipts) fillet steak in the Parlament restaurant 36 euro , beer around 2.50 to 3 euro for a half litre, local brewery beer is popular. Vodka ranged from 2.50 to around 5 euro depending where. There's an Irish bar if that's your thing but we avoided that at my daughter's behest 😄. Uber from airport was around 12 euro and so worth it, about 20 minutes. All in all we had a fantastic time and enjoyed the attractions. Advice would be to 'be specific' about what you want food and drink wise, English is obviously not their first language and things can easily get lost in translation however it will be appreciated if you give a decent attempt at their language, I was crap at it but my daughter gave it a good go. . 3rd of Jan for 3 days and the weather was dry and around 8 degrees, very mild.
A beautiful city on the banks of the Danube steeped in history . Most definitely a must visit
Loved it 😍

Two night stay in the heart of the Old Town. Christmas markets in full swing. Attractive squares, streets and buildings. So many restaurants and bars in a compact area. Castle (reconstructed) was fascinating. Cathedral impressive. Riverside interesting. Tram to station was convenient. Great character in a compact area.

Full of lovely old buildings, odd statues and cosy cafes and bars. A brilliant destination for a day trip from Vienna especially in the festive season.
