That is what remains of the extensive medieval Dominican monastery in Tallinn, which was destroyed during reformation. And boy, what a wonderfully scenic place it is. You really have to make an effort to find it-it is just off Vene st., opposite Telegraaf Hotel. We had dinner at Controvento Restaurant there and would walk along this little medieval passage many... Wandering through Katarina's Guild is one of those memorable travel experiences that is naturally described in glowing terms in a journal and leaves the most pleasant images in the slide show in our minds. The level of attention to detail and the talent of the local artists showcased in this picturesque passageway of studios is a treat for anyone who... More

This is a romantic little passage way! There are several shops down this street, as well as a church and some interesting tombstones on the wall of the church that faces the street. Worth a stroll!

This is a beautiful street to stroll on. Very picturesque, especially later when the lights come on.

Even if you're not in the market for a souvenir from Tallinn, this passageway is worth strolling. Crafts are made on-site in a beautifully preserved series of old buildings and streets. Many of the handicrafts for sale are created using traditional handmade techniques, but are surprisingly well designed and sophisticated. Even non-shoppers will enjoy spending some time here.

This is a small narrow passage, interesting already because of the fact that it is very old, but preserved, on the top of it there are small crafts' and art's shops where you can discover and buy the beautiful work from local artists and craftmen/women. A great part of Tallin!

Firstly, the street itself is gorgeous and feels very medieval. Secondly, its worth going to each of the artisan workshops to see them in action. There's leather cutters making bags, boxes and books; stained glass window makers, glass blowers, linen-makers, etc. this is a great place to get a real Estonian souvenir versus the mass manufactured items sold everywhere else.... Tallinn is on handicrafts overload. There are many artisans, both real and fake selling every manner of craft. Some of the stuff is hideous and useless. You truly wonder who buys some of this crap. The Katarina lane collects true artisans practicing real arts. If you want to purchase locally made leather, ceramics or glass work--this is the place. There... More

This lovely close, walk or lane is home to several artisans’ studios where you can browse and possibly pick up some beautiful pieces. We found some lovely stained glass, blown glass, ceramics, textiles, patchwork quilts, hats, jewelry and wood carvings. Near the end of the lane are the ruins of the Church of St. Catherine of Alexandria and many headstones... More

St Catherine’s Passage is only a short stroll from the Town Hall Square and is probably the most picturesque of the lanes in Tallinn Old Town. The buildings are very old; some of them date back to the 15th century and most are in excellent condition, the archways are most impressive. In the passage are a couple of restaurants and... More
