- kristi b26 contributionsGood sandy beachesThe city of Jurmala is like a window directed to the sunshine in comparison with the rest of the country. Dozens of kilometres of nice sandy beaches. Many resorts. It is surprise that prices for accommodation is so high in the country where the most of people are getting average salary 500-700 EUR per hand.Visited June 2022Travelled with familyWritten 28 January 2023
- Chris BarrDarlington, United Kingdom770 contributionsWinter VisitI got the train from Riga to Majori which took around thirty minutes and was easy and very cheap. The walk to the beach took about ten minutes, it was very cold and almost deserted but the sandy beach looked clean and you can imagine it being busy in the summer. It was worth the trip just to see a bit of Latvia outside if Riga.Visited January 2023Written 31 January 2023
- Samu H5 contributionsNice beach and good for kids. Only few beach rentals.Jurmala beach is nice place and shallow for the kids. Jurmala beach is perfect place with small kids. Only thing what I expected at the beach was beach chairs. There was only few beach chair rentals and they are extremly pricey.Visited July 2023Travelled with familyWritten 18 July 2023
- Ken O6 contributionsJūrmala beach is a nice and long sandy beachNice long sandy beach on the Baltic sea. We saw people playing sports such as volleyball and football. Nice family place as lots of people where there with their children. Lots of people were sunbathing. They have a lot of small bars on the beach as well as food places. I thought the prices where reasonable as we bought drinks and food in two different kiosks on the beach.Visited August 2023Travelled with friendsWritten 18 August 2023

What a stunning beach! Gorgeous golden sand as far as the eye can see with plenty of facilities such as toilets and bars and cafes to hand. There are “active” and “passive” activity areas too, what a good idea.

Very large beach and quite close by to Riga.
Very clean and quite easily accessible.
This is a great place to lay out and catch some rays or simply take a stroll as I did.
Love the views.
Has a few places to get a drink and snacks as well.

This beach was easy to get to from Riga- just a short (and cheap) train journey- and the train line runs near to the coast.
It was amazing to see a beach half sand and half covered in snow- a first for us- and the beach was impressively long and clean. It was lovely to see quite a few people enjoying a stroll along it.

Hi! Where could I book a beach volleyball or beach soccer court on a certain date and time? How does it work?
Looking for a date in mid-June. Specifically interested in the courts at "Majori" part of the beach.

Are pets allowed on this beach ? If not , are there some special beaches in Latvia you can take your pet ? Does latvia have a internet page where I could find pet friendly places ?

Pets are not allowed on the beach but there are several beautiful hiking and biking paths by the beach.

Das kann ich Ihnen leider nicht beantworten, da ich im Dezember noch nie in Riga war. Ich denke die bekannten Sehenswürdigkeiten haben eine Homepage, dort können sie die Informationen bestimmt finden.

If you want a calm day on the Beach what train station is best?
Alf Aas
Trondheim, Norway109 contributions
If you mean high season, then I don't think it matters. All is full.
If you are 3-4 people I would take a taxi. Panda is always cheap (about 14 Euro to the beach), but sometimes you need some patience.

I will be getting the train from Riga to Jurmula. What is the name of the station I get off? And is there any possiblity of renting sunbeds? Is it far from shops & restaurants to the beach?

The station is called Majore. I recommend you to walk along the pedestrian street to the beach. You can rent sunbeds and buy something cold to drink

In August I saw local people swimming; I'm from Italy and I'm not so courageous... We got to Jurmala by train, it's very easy...
