This is an easy-to-see collection, spanning several centuries of Latvian art over two floors. My personal favourites were the atmospheric 19th c. scenes and the early 20th c. experiments--but there were both earlier periods and contemporary artists represented.

Spent a happy couple of hours here enjoying the permanent and temporary exhibitions. As it says, this is the Latvian art museum and very little of what is on display here would have been see outside the Baltics. The visible storage area is also interesting....More

I like that kind of museums in which possible to slowly examine exposition in 1,5-2 hours. Enough but not too much arts located on a few floors and basement. Basement with a temporary exposition has a transparent wall to show art storage - very interesting....More

Restaurant is located in the national art museum in Riga. Compact, thoughtful menu with international cuisine. Dishes are delicious and service is pleasant. Prices are a bit high but overall nice place.
