This Monument is the famous landmark in Riga. It is located near the Old Town and the Park it is where you can see the "changing of the guards" ceremony.

It's a big monument, but in my opinion nothing special about it. Off course from a historical point of view it's special. I would rather recommend so see something else.

A must see monument for all Riga visitors. There is old Riga town near it, also a must see place. We also liked the park near it. The best time is to visit during Summer in sunny day.

A nice place for a land mark . Looks very effective and is a part of the city tour which finished here.

The monument is very much "in your face", it is meant to be. It is basically a statement of escape from the control of the mighty Soviet empire. An obvious photo opportunity in Riga.

If you are walking around the city you will most probably see it anyway, stand for a minute or two then keep walking. it's a monument just as in the pictures that symbolize the freedom of the Latvian people.

This monument is famous on Latvian national culture. It is located in the heart of Riga, near the Opera house and Radisson SAS hotel Latvia. We liked it when we went to city centre.

This monument is an interesting feature and a good reference point to stop you getting lost in Riga. The statue is modern and pleasingbon the eye.

We watched the changing of the guard here. Impressive reminder of the Latvian independence. You can't miss it.

Get to the monument in the morning as you will see the guards on watch and may be lucky enough to see the changing of the guard, a good central point to start your visit to the old town
