Outside is better

The inside exhibition was a little bland but once outside it was much better. Interesting buildings to walk around and a nice tearoom.

We visited Ventspils museum with family. It is a nice museum but it really could use some more information in English. Also some of the information and exhibition itself had small errors (latvian sign on the wall of the windmill saying it was built in 1864 and sign in english saying the windmill was built in 1894, modern harvester marks... As the museum is not very big it gives the idea of coastal living in Latvia in different periods. They have huge amount of boats, mostly fising boats, from history up to Soviet time. It was fun to have ride at narrow-track train powered by steam locomotive.

A mix of antique ships, anchors, traditional buildings, cultural items and more. Even has a little train that goes through the pretty nearby park. Very clean and well-maintained. Only a 5-minute walk from the beach, it gives a view of the fascinating local society of the past and offers a fun change from sun-and-sand.

A place with a taste of history. :) Lots of different home and that will allow to understand the Latvian roots. Mills and the most important and interesting - Little Train that leave no one indifferent. In addition, the tram can take trips - is worth it - recommend!

If you like ships, you must come here. There are many different types of ships. Although I am not especially a fan of ships, I was impressed with the variety and number of ships. I was also impressed with the houses, even the one that was described as a poor fisherman's house seemed like a decent place to live. The... More
