Levoča is a small medieval UNESCO town in eastern Slovakia, in the historical region of Spiš. The Cage of Shame, dating back to the 16th century, is located in the town square, in front of the old Town Hall (now a museum). It was made...More

Maybe you have seen it in the movies, but here is the real deal... It has been used in the past in some more dark ages. Now-days, you can view it in the center of this town.

It was for sure very shameful to be locked in this cage in the past centuries. However, in our days cage will probably be occupied every day by politicians...

Between old town hall and evangelical church there's a Cage of Shame. Nice little feature in great town of Levoca. So you can lock somebody up, and... basically that's it. End of story.

This is easy to find and won't take up much of your time and you can visit it on the way to another museum or getting something to eat.

Well, IMHO it is hard to get excited about a cage, even if it's historical use has primarily been to shame women/young girls who stayed out too late.

Interesting detail in the town. Really central location in the middle of the old town. Walk by and few photos with nice buildings in the background.

We did spend whole day in this small but very nice town. There are very nice and exceptional things to see,as for example the church with the biggest altar of the world totally made in wood

It is locked, so you can't put someone in it for pictures, but someone can pose outside and have their picture taken from the other side. It is obviously hand made. The iron work is quite beautiful if you look at it closely.
