Visited here while on holiday in northern Portugal - it was a Sunday and there was a flea market situated in the plane tree avenue near the river - we wandered around the market, then walked across the roman bridge before having lunch at one of the restaurants.

There are walking paths throughout this town, many on the river. We enjoyed walking from the parking lot, of which there are many, along the river, through the town, over the bridge and through the parks. A delightful visit we were surprised by.

It is incredible even to think about this bridge was built by romans ans then reformed in the middle age. The figures in both margins are there to explain the myth, that perhaps the first battalion has reached the end of the west world.

The town is build around this bridge, so of course it is the main attraction. It is a nice bridge, but since photos are so good today, you feel a bit disappointed by reality.

The history of this bridge goes way back. It is a nice pedestrian bridge connecting the church and town. Great opportunity for pictures.
