Lively beach with great facilities, restaurants etc. Little train to take you there or back or you can walk! There is an Anchor grave yard which tells of the Tuna fishing history of the place. Well worth a visit.

We were here last year for 1-2 days, and the first impressions still hold true: this is am especially excellent beach. The white sand is soft and lovely and clean, the water is cool and blue and super clean as well. Even when it's crowded...More

We drive from central Tavira to Santa Luzia ( about 10 min). I think it would have been a nice bike ride but we didn’t feel like arranging that today ( lazy day). We parked at a pay lot ( inexpensive) as the street parking...More

You can walk across the bridge and along the path beside the train tracks to the beach or hop on the train which runs very frequently. If you walk, you’ll be able to read information about the birds that visit the area.

Lovely beach with very good amenities, toilets, cafes/bars and restaurant. You can walk to the beach around 10 minutes or so or catch the little train to and from the beach. The beach is huge so you can easily move from the crowds if you...More

We drove into Santa Luzia and walked across the bridge and then caught the little train that takes you over to Barril. The drive is through mudflats and nature reserve and beautiful - you can walk it too roughly 2km . You arrive at a...More

I've never seen any huge pipes on the beach at Barril, if they were washed up by storms the government will clear them.

It was too cold however all of the beaches are OK to swim. Water tends to be lively as you are on the Atlantic
