We were staying in Murren, so we took the train to Grutschalp and descended to the valley on the tram. Walking south, the Staubach falls are immediately past the commercial center and climbing up under them on the stairway/path was fun. The valley runs for...More

Even on the train ride to Lauterbrunnen, I do really enjoy the green view and river scene. It's not far from Interlaken Ost Station that takes about 20 minutes by train. There is a funicular takes you up to several destinations such as Grütschalp, Mürren...More

There are literally scores of waterfalls dropping into the Lauterbrunnen Valley. The most spectacular I think are at the head of the valley, way above Stechelburg. Even those in the town are stupendous, and well worth a view.

The numerous waterfalls in the Lauterbrunnen definitely explain the name. (Loud fountains). The amount of water varies with the season and rainfall, but there are some spectacular cascades from the plateau to the valley floor. There is even a series of waterfalls inside a mountain.

Interlaken is bigger and has lots of shops, the lakes etc. You could take the train up the valley to Lauterbrunnen and then walk from the station along the Waterfall Valley- walks are very well signposted. It's very easy... More

I would say it would be a bit risky and slippery underfoot. There are times when as an adult it is slippery, trying to look after a little one at the same time could be tricky. There are plenty of paths and places to see... More
