This sail cruise in the akaroa harbour is a must. Ray our captain was very knowledgable, friendly and kind. He really looked after us and the trip was beautiful. Great scenery, seals, dolphins, penguins and mussel farms. We loved it.

There really aren't enough adjectives to describe this experience. Ray uses his gifts, skills in sailing, knowledge of the sea, history - both natural and social, and knowledge of human beings to the full. He had my wife's and my attention solidly for the two and a half hour journey. The afternoon was sunny and enough wind to sail with... More

I had a wonderful afternoon sailing round the harbour and the Queen Victoria with Ray. He is really welcoming and friendly and very informative about the history, culture and wildlife of Akaroa, and about his beloved and beautiful boat. Most of the wildlife seemed to be having a siesta that afternoon but we were closely accompanied for several minutes by... More

To start with Akaroa is the most beautiful place to visit. The sailing boat trip is very special because the dolphins and penguins don't have to cope with an engine and they seemed to love that. We saw lots of them and we were even treated to an albatross very close to us. A wonderful trip with a great crew... More

Captain Ray is awesome and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. He is very entertaining and extremely informative. I am still telling his stories back home. Spend an afternoon with Ray on his boat. You won't regret it :)

Our group of six from Canada sailed with Captain Ray in Akaroa, New Zealand and we had an absolutely great sailing adventure. He has a great love for the sea and his expertise on the water comes with great skills and the pure joy of sailing and meeting new people.....Thank you Ray!!! Cindy

We sailed out on the Manatura looking for wildlife on the morning cruise. We encountered dolphins, blue penguins and an unusual (for Akaroa) yellow eyed penguin. Captain Ray was an great VERY enthusiastic host, I think he was as excited about what we saw as anyone on the boat. Many of us had a turn at the helm as well.... More

This tour is run by "Captain Ray", a consummate professional with highly developed interpersonal skills. The sailing adventure starts with an Air New Zealand type of safety briefing in which all points are covered but with that infectious Kiwi humour. Ray demonstrates superior sailing skills as he handles his boat as if it was an extension of his body. All... More

Akaroa is the key place of beauty to enjoy sailing in South Island, NZ. Ray's boat and knowledge gives a smaller-size group true opportunities to learn, participate and enjoy sailing. A fantastic experience, not to be miss!!
