Living in San Francisco means we are desperate to get away to nature for long weekends. The Russian River looks perfect on a map - one hour away, a beautiful river valley filled with Redwoods. Alas, our recent trip over the New Year confirmed my worst fears. The river is still dreadfully polluted, and very little has been done to... More

Relaxing day on the river. We rented a canoe and took our time on the river. Nice way to relax and get away from the crowds. Some parts of the river were so low that we had to get out and push our way through but overall it was a great trip with nice scenery and wildlife. There are several... More

Very tight corners and sites are very narrow, close together and sloped. Most have very little patio if any because the site was so high compared to the patio area. We have a 38 ft motorhome and it got damaged trying to turn the corner on a hill. We have been here 2 times to visit a friend but we... More

This is a beautiful natural area. We kayaked on the Russian River which was a lot of fun! The river is extremely shallow in some areas, but it is very clear and peaceful.

This attraction takes place one a year during September and happens along the river in Guerneville. The setting is beautiful and relaxing. One can go dipping into the river or renting a boat while listening to music. A lot of locals and out of town folks show up. It's a wonderful way to experience this region.

This beautiful river is no more. So used up, polluted, and gross that overabundant algae from too much winery runoff has not only killed a dog this summer, it has destroyed the water quality. It is shameful that the powers that be have let this once abundant river with clear, clean water be so abused. A disgrace and a dump.... More

Rented a house in Rio Nido, along the Russian River, and even with the California drought, the river still has plenty of water in it. We canoed and kayaked a stretch from Odd Fellows Road to Johnson's Beach, and loved every minute of it. Keep an eye out for a cool rope swing, about half way to Johnson's, for a... More

Take the backroad out of Healdsburg (Wohler Rd) take your time and visit numerous small wineries and a few larger ones. Experience the difference between Tourist busy Napa and the more sedate and enjoyable Sonoma. Take your time and and enjoy the scenery it will make your vacation. Do mind when the road Ts at the a River Road...way too... More

My cousin's family rented a vacation house right on the river for her birthday! The river was not too deep and was super fun taking the kayaks out and kayaking up and down the river. Nice people everywhere, and the town surrounding the area we were at was small and quirky!
