There is a lot of good news. The crew, without exception, were among the nicest people we've met. The checked luggage was handled more efficiently than any airline I've flown. There were some great views. We had a bedroom and slept very well. The train...More

My trip was from Seattle to San Francisco. Also, this was my first long trip on a train. Overall I'd say it was an average experience. Accommodations: I got a sleeper car roomette. This is a closet sized room that has two seats facing each...More

It was SO bad I don't know where to start. It is a shame that this is advertised as a vacation train. As a passenger train, it would be minimally satisfactory. Crew 1 is a tightly knit clique who operate in the mindset of a...More

This was a great experience despite the fact that I was suffering from a cold. The economy chairs are very comfortable even to sleep in (it helps if you are short like me and the seat next to you is free) and very well cared...More

So disappointed with this trip. We got on at Portland to go to LA, we barely saw the attendant the whole trip except to make up the beds, the staff in the dining car were inept and rude, the parlor car barman looked permanently peed...More

This was our first long-range trip on Amtrak. We had a bedroom and boarded the train in Emeryville, CA bound for Seattle, WA. It was the first leg of our grand tour of the West via Amtrak: Bay Area-Seattle-Portland-Whitefish, MT (Glacier Nat'l Park)-St. Paul-Chicago-Bay Area....More

They have sent me a copy of your question, but in reality, as a Brit I will leave it to other local responders to answer you specific request. Whichever you chose, it is a great part of the US, we really enjoyed our visit.
