Stayed here while touring west Yellowstone. It is about 20 min from town but well worth the drive. The views are unbeatable. The lake is quite large and supposedly great for fishing. We rented a house for 3 days and were pleasantly surprised by the...More

If you're looking for a great RV park or to camp while visiting Yellowstone, please consider Henry's Lake. Compared to many of the campgrounds near West Yellowstone, the others can't compete with the view and amenities. It was amazing to wake up and see that...More

We drove by Henry's Lake State Park on our way to Yellowstone National Park, and decided it might be a nice, quiet spot for a picnic. Pretty lake with beautiful views of the mountains of Montana and Wyoming across the lake. There is a dock...More

Loved this state park for the beautiful lake view and the close proximity to Yellowstone. The upper loop was new and had new showers (always a bonus while camping). Sites had power and electricity and a few had full hookups. There were lots of wild...More

My family and I loved this campground. The facilities are super clean. The views are beautiful. Plus, the gophers, herons, and pronghorn sheep we saw were awesome, but the mosquitos were absolutely terrible. They sort of ruined it, which is a shame because this campground...More

We stopped in for dinner with good friend who worked and lived here all summer and we spent a relaxing evening overlooking Henry's lake with Sawtelle Mountain looming to the south. This is a fine campground For water sports or to escape from the crowds....More

We camped July 27, 2015 in our 5th-wheel trailer at Henry's Lake State Park and enjoyed the fabulous views of the lake, surrounding mountains and Pelicans who obviously love living there. We had just returned from a snowstorm (SNOW!) in Yellowstone that afternoon, and were...More

I was visiting the area in August 2014 fishing the Henry's Fork and brought my kayak along to fish Henry's Lake. I fished here three days but only mornings since it gets a little windy in the afternoon heat. There are some very large cutthroat...More

What a great campground. All paved, level, little shade tho, clean restrooms/showers. Right on the Lake. Very windy at moment's notice, so keep awnings rolled up if you leave; and Mosquitos bad at night so bring bug spray. Staff very friendly.

Rented a cabin here for two nights, loved it. The cabin was basic: not cooking inside, just beds and a table, but if you hate sleeping on the ground as much as I do, a little cabin by the lake is perfection. The cabin included...More

Has anyone had any luck staying here in the summer without reservations? We're planning a cross-country trip, and I'd rather not be locked into a reservation if I can help it in case we miss our window. Thanks for any advice!

We made reservations literally a week before we went. I was surprised to find camping in the West Yellowstone area with that short of notice. Usually thing book up way in advance for July and Aug. There are some KOA's... More
Hi guys, Planning a trip to Yellowstone with my kids next summer, and I've started researching campgrounds when this came up. As much as I'd love to stay in the park, this seems like a much cheaper (and bear free!) option with the added bonus of hook-ups. I'd love to hear from people who have stayed here and done Yellowstone. Is it convenient to get to the park from here? What are your thoughts? We're driving all the way from NC, so I don't want to be stupid and waste our time here driving from a campground that's too far away from everything we want to see. Thanks for any advice you can give!

Hope you get this answer in time before your trip … Don’t be put off by the fact that it’s “cheaper”; state parks usually are. Too many commercial parks are like parking lots—RVs too close together. But in every state park... More
Can you put a tent outside the cabins for extra people? And how close is it to a grocery store to buy food?

Response from John M |
Not sure about the tents. Maybe you could call them. There are stores close by, but they are definitely in the "convenience store" category. There are two full-service grocery stores in West Yellowstone, about 15 miles away.
