The ultimate in getting away from it all. Camping, kayaking and hiking. To top it off the freshest air you can find. Coming from the south you will go over the bridge from Houghton to Hancock and head north. You can stop for breakfast in Hancock because it will be an all day adventure. You will pass through small towns... More

Went all the way up to Copper Harbor and back .... take one road up, the other back. Both are very scenic. Lakes, forest, colors, and quiet. Saw eagles. Stopped at Fort Wilkins but it was closed for the season ... darn. Nice area for hiking.

We spend a week every September in the Keweenaw. We bring our dogs who enjoy the dog friendly parks. Their coats are silky soft after swimming in Lake Superior. Every year we find new adventures! It's absolute beauty and tranquility is mesmerizing. A must trip for those who have not encountered this beautiful peninsula!

I have been going to the UP with family since I was very young. I swear something gets in your blood and keeps calling one back. I miss it if too much time has past since my last visit. This trip was a first for trying out the trails with a UTV. We were able to view a lake that... More

If you're a sea kayaker, mountain biker, cross country skier, snowboarder, downhill or tele skier, then the Keweenaw is the place for you. Rumor has it that the Keweenaw is also awesome for snowmobiling and off-roading, too. Unlike other places in lower Michigan and Wisconsin, the Keweenaw hasn't been spoiled by over development and floods of tourists. You won't find... More

This area is perfect for the outdoorsy nature buff in you. I try to come up every August and October. My husband and I have a home up in the Keweenaw. There is an incredible amount to do in all seasons. From hiking, biking, seeing the colors, visiting the mine ruins, boating, skiing, snowmobiling and even sampling the local food.... More

We spent three days on the UP. Seattle well at The Library in Houghton Dc The Rosetta in Calimet The Super 8 Motel was surprisingly elegant, wethbroad views of the river. The highlight was the A. E. Seaman Mineral Museum. It was beautifully curated and the specimens entelegently labeled. We spent two mornings there.

It's far enough away from any big population centers, that it doesn't get a ton of tourist traffic. The area is somewhat economically depressed, so I wish a few more tourists would find this spot... just a few though! Some of my favorite things: - mtn biking in copper harbor - just the drive to copper harbor is spectacular 26... More

Winter in the Keweenaw brings a different view of the land and the scene. You don't have to be a snowmobiler but if you are, one of the best parts is killing the engine, removing your helmet and listening. You might hear birds or clumps of snow falling off the trees or water moving in an unfrozen stream or best... More
