Went to try my hand at fly fishing. I'm not great but it was a beautiful lake to visit. Local place to eat and bathrooms of the sore were very convenient. Good place to bring my boat back for kayaking as well.

Canyon Ferry Dam offers beautiful views as you travel there. The large Canyon Ferry Reservoir is tops for recreation in the Helena area. It has wonderful scenery and is great for bird watchers. Osprey are plentiful in the summer. You'll also often see loons, pelicans, cormorants, turkey buzzards, turkeys, bald eagles, and mountain bluebirds to name just a few. Deer... More

Stayed at Kim's Marina and loved the lake. Make sure you call in advance to reserve a cabin or boat as they get busy in the summer. This is a hidden secret to most travelers - great for the kids to swim and great hospitality.

Being from the Land of 10,000 Lakes (MN) maybe I'm a little spoiled when it comes to lakes and boating. Canyon Ferry was very much a disappointment. We rented one of their newest boats (so we were told) We boarded this 12 person pontoon boat and spend two hours touring Ferry Lake. This boat was literally falling apart. Carpeting was... More
