Great scenery!!! Cost is $12. They take you from the Riverside Casino to the dam back down the river past Harrahs back to the Riverside. Ride lasts almost an hour.

We love going to the river. Please wear a life jacket no matter what age you are or how much of a good swimmer you are. The current is no joke. The water is clear and cold.

For the bold and brave the Colorado can be rafted through the Grand Canyon, but with age a quieter passage may be preferred. We rafted the river from the Glen Canyon dam to Lees Ferry. The trip takes about four hours and takes you through magnificent scenery of sheer cliffs, through the famous Horse Shoe Bend. There are a couple of companies in Page which offer the excursion. Time permitting I would highly recommend it.

Going further down the El Dorado Canyon from Nelson Ghost Town is the Colorado River. It was the start of summer but there weren't that many people there. I didn't know the river was there or I would have been more suitably dressed but its perfect for some 'beach' fun. Clear cold water under the Vegas sun. Some areas have a bit of a walk and its not easy on bare feet but once you get to the water, it's perfect. There were people on kayaks and speed boats and floaters. I could also imagine the spot in the evening for star gazing. Beware there are no lights though and it may not be open at night.

Being from the east coast, this river looks very clean. It looks crystal clean, you can drive up and park to get into it or let your dog swim in it in Laughlin NV & Needles CA.

Unlike many of the States in the Midwest and east coast we don't have many boating options. The Colorado river provides the perfect boating and family destination. The emerald green water is the perfect temperature all summer long. Boat launching is available from many public locations on the California and Arizona side. The Topock Gorge wildlife refuge is one of the most stunning areas on the river. The jagged red rocks and cliffs hug the beautiful crystalline emerald water on this narrow stretch between Needles and Lake Havasu. If you don't own a watercraft, you can rent a personal watercraft in Bullhead city along the water. If you don't want to ride the river or are traveling with family you'll find parks along the way that enable you to enjoy the water. Visitors from Europe who enjoy the novelty of our desert terrain e.g. Palm Springs and Death Valley will love our Colorado river. It offers the best of both worlds, desert landscapes and exploring the river.

We have visited the Colorado River in Arizona and Nevada. After running through the Grand Canyon, the Colorado reaches Hoover Dam and turns south creating the state line between Arizona and Nevada. There is so much to do in this amazing waterway- whitewater rafting, tubing, just relaxing in a secluded area on a beach. Quite a treasure.

If you go in the summer, Laughlin is hot. The river tends to cool things down a little. You can take a water taxi to the different hotels and casinos for a small fee. You can also rent jet skis on the river. It is a refreshing oasis in that hot desert.
