Beautiful scenery surrounded by nature with lots of natural habitat that is open for you to enjoy. Used my new Canon T6 Rebel and was able to capture some amazing photos of the nature that will not go unseen. Next to the Frio River with high elevations to enjoy with a loved one for a VERY romantic get away. A... More

My family has vacationed here every year for the last 30+ years, and we look forward to coming here every year. Lots to do for all ages, and enjoyable!

I camped for one night in a screened shelter in November. If it weren't for the really cold temps, the trip would have been perfect. Since we can't control the weather, I guess that means the trip was pretty perfect. We hiked up Old Baldy with two kids (ages 9 and 5). They did great. It was a challenging hike,... More

While the campgrounds are beautiful, the facilities were dirty and the staff were rude. We were parked "incorrectly" at our site, and a man came up to us and got in our faces about it. He was definitely not "Texas friendly" and he is a bad representative of the park system. All he had to do is ask us to... More

This is a beautiful park but it was loud and crowded even in December. The river is an amazing Texas wonder and this place is a must visit for any Texan.

Just a short 1.5 hour drive from San Antonio you will find Garner State Park just outside of Leakey, TX. My family and I went to Garner in our RV for the weekend and enjoyed fishing, hiking and sightseeing through the park. The people throughout the park were extremely friendly and the park staff were very helpful. I would get... More

We camped for Thanksgiving week (first time in our camper) and had one of my most favorite Thanksgivings ever! No time schedules, no expectations. It was fabulous! The park was busy, but not summer busy. Great weather, great hiking, warm enough to splash in the river a couple of the days. We camped in Live Oak area. Great area if... More

Lots of hiking trails, a small crystal cave, clear river, cabins, tent spaces, a mobile trailer selling grilled items to eat, put put for the kids, a gift shop, etc.

Our family of four visited Garner State Park over Thanksgiving. Since it was my first time to this park, I was unsure what to expect. The visit certainly exceeded my expectations. The woman at check-in area that helped us was fantastic. She was friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable! We reserved a water-only campsite in the Old Garner/Pecan Grove area There was... More

The weather was perfect in November to hike in Garner State Park. The week of Thanksgiving is very busy so get there very early to get into the park for a day trip.
