The Uintah Mountains are amazing - majestic, pine-filled, beautiful - that's the upside. They are so close to civilization that many people go to enjoy the area which is good and bad. It's nice to know so many people do enjoy the great outdoors and get outside to play there. It was so packed with people the day we were... More

We hiked the Henry's Fork Trail to the summit of King's Peak, the highest point in Utah. We camped out 2 nights at a beautiful location below Gunsight Pass. There was plenty of water in July, and the scenery was breathtaking. Rangers were out completing trail maintenance on horseback. We saw a cow moose and calf on our hike in.... More

The loop hike from Henry's Fork to King Peak, the highest point in Utah, is about 33 miles long with a climb of 4000 feet. It is not difficult, although the altitude is over 12000 feet, and it can be done in 2 days but it is a comfortable 3 days hike. It can be done as a loop from... More

We went hiking to Fehr Lake and another lake a little further in..It is so beautiful when you get into wilderness like that...the hike was just enough to where you got enough exercise but not too extreme... We love taking a ride on the motorcycle up here.. We stopped at Mirror Lake and walked around it...We stopped at Provo River... More

Excellent 5.75 hiking loop that connects to muliple lakes. The elevation is around 10,500. Beautiful scenery. The hiking trail is moderately difficult. The route is short enough for day hikes. I did backpacked in with children and first time backpackers due to the short route. The experience was great for experienced backpackers as well.

We visited Uintas Wilderness area this past week and it was absolutely spectacular! About an hour from our home in Utah, we were really amazed by the rolling green hills, filled with alpines and evergreen trees - Some trees were beginning to change color with the season so lots of golds and reds too. The river and mirror lake are... More

We originally came to see the caves. Book online and early if you want to take a tour. Only 20 per tour group are allowed. Since we didn't book early, we opted for hiking. What a beautiful area! We are not into hardcore hiking. Not a problem. There are plenty of well marked, paved trails to test. Many picnic tables... More

Hiked to the top of Kings Peak, starting at the Henry Fork Trailhead. 30 miles roundtrip, totally worn out, but well worth the effort! Amazing scenery, and peaceful (if you ignore the Boy Scouts) surroundings!

The Uintas are unique in lots of ways. I have been in many mountain ranges and few have supplied the remoteness and break from civilization as the Uintas have. Even if you take the 1hr 30min drive from Salt Lake City to Mirror lake, Trail lake, Moosehead lake, or Butterfly lake(all within minutes of each other) you will see vast... More
