Though the Jefferson Memorial is a little further off of the mall where the other monuments are, It is a beautiful monument and it is definitely worth the effort to see this memorial to one of the Founders of the United States.

Granted I find Thomas Jefferson fascinating, but this has always been my favorite memorial in D.C. It's elegant simplicity of design speaks to me ! It's away from the National Mall on the other side of the Tidal Basin, which gives you a different perspective on the beauty of our nation's capitol. It's not very time consuming, you can be... This is a favorite place to watch the sunset over the Potomac. The statue is standard monumental art, but the quotations are fascinating. The Jefferson Memorial is set well away from most of the other monuments, so be prepared for a hike.

This building is huge, and seems fitting for Thomas Jefferson. I only wish I could have been able to see inside the building. We were on a tour bus when we saw this, and they didn't stop here to let us off. Maybe when we go back, I can arrange to see this by cab.

Old Tom just stands there surrounded by his words. Some of the most beautiful words ever written about government were written by Jefferson and this beautiful memorial celebrates him and his words.

Full disc louse, I did not go inside, I ran past the building during a morning run. I could feel the history and importance as I watched the site getting closer and closer during my run. It's a lovley site at the bottom of the mall, a very long walk for most. I suggest you combine visits to MLK &... More

This monument is a little out of the way but worth the stop. The statue is huge and the view from the tidal basin is unique. I would try to go at sunset to get the colors over the water and the view of the Washington monument and even the White House.

This is by far my favorite monument in design and it's in desperate need of a repair and general cleaning. The steps that face the Potomac are worn and while we were there were full of puddles and ice. The rotunda dome is covered in mildew. The metal letters that quote Jefferson all over the walla looks to have been... More

Go inside and read the quotes engraved on the walls that surround the bigger than life sculpture of TJ. It would behoove the leaders at the other end of the mall to make a visit and read the sentiments therein.
