First off I’m not a real art lover - but I do appreciate the great works (my wife is the real art-y one) but this is amazing. The colors & you see everything so up close. Could spend a half day in here easily. Add...More

Unlike some of the other crowded Smithsonians, this one provides visitors with plenty of quiet and space. Changing exhibitions draw visitors back for more. Only place to go at no expense to see the greatest artists of the world. The museum actually encompasses two buildings,...More

The National Gallery's East Building containing Modern and Contemporary Art can't compare to the West Building's collection of European and American pre-20th century painting and sculpture. The biggest problem is the new building. The edifice completely overpowers the art. An art museum shouldn't be about...More

As expected, many of the great artists' works are here and displayed in a building which is a work of art itself. Don't miss the contemporary art wing and rooftop terrace. My kids love the moving sidewalk which connects the east and the west buildings.

The #1 indoor, non-political attraction to go to Washington DC for. The collection is covering everything up to today.

Since this was a Smithsonian on the Mall, I thought it would house only U.S. art but seeing a special Cezanne Portrait exhibit advertised outside cued me. This unique Cezanne exhibit was extraordinary with 4-5 galleries filled with portraiture that I'd never seen before. And...More
