We went there with our little kids and enjoyed the tour learning about the history as narrated by someone from our Senator's office. We contacted our Senator's office through email as suggested on visitthecapitol site. The office arranged for one of their members to guide us and another family. The guide did a fantastic job and we didn't have to... More

This is America's Buckingham Palace. I was in awe standing in front of this beautiful building. Felt so proud to look up the stairs (although we could not go up them -- security everywhere). You have to go on a tour which takes you under the building to get in. Amazing ceilings. Beautiful art. Just breathtaking and the highlight for... More

What a great day, What great views. A lot of walking but worth every step. If you've never been and able to walk it's a must.

Arrived for the tour and got shown pretty much everything. The guides are extremely knowledgeable and you just can't escape the sheer since of history. My only criticism is there aren't many water faucets so make you brink some drinks with you as you can spend hours here.

The visitors center is huge and offers 2 tours. Outside the tours it has an area with the time line of the capital. It was very interesting and filled with cool information. It's takes sometime to explore so give yourself at least 3 hours when visiting. You can also take a tunnel to the Jefferson building from the capital. Add... More

On the regular tour, you can see the Rotunda and the old Senate room (now full of beautiful statues). The regular tour does not include visiting the Senate or House. To do this, you need to contact one of the State Reps ahead of time. We did not do that, so we walked over to her office and requested the... More

Great place of history but what made it really special is the guide (a lady who's name I don't recall) but she made the tour interesting and special. Really worth a visit - i booked my ticket well in advance. Use the underground tunnel to go and see a Congress's library too. And for foreigners - go to the desk... More

You can spend hours walking around this building just studying the stone work. The marble and columns are simply beautiful to behold.

You enter at the rotunda and the statuary are around the circular walls, Guides are well informed and friendly. As part of our scout tour, we pre-arranged for a talk by one of our Senators when we entered the chamber. Had we attended during the week, there would have been more activity. A mu8st for understanding our American way of... More
