Overview
More
The Capitol is among the most architecturally impressive and symbolically important buildings in the world. The Senate and the House of Representatives have met here for more than two centuries. Begun in 1793, the Capitol has been built, burnt, rebuilt, extended, and restored; today, it stands as a monument not only to its builders but also to the American people and their government.

Gorgeous building and immaculate, you could eat off the floor. The staff, tour guides, security, capitol police, everyone we interacted with was so incredibly friendly and professional. The tour was interesting, well organized, and gave me a greater appreciation of the area and what went...More

You have seen it hundreds time in the movies. It still took my breath away when it was in front of me. Such a majestic building! We were there on a beautiful April day. The fountain pool nicely reflected the building. I was very glad...More

We booked a private tour through our local congressman’s office. The intern, Liz that took us through the tour was awesome! She was extremely knowledgeable about everything she showed us. She has a true passion for our country’s history and we really enjoyed all the...More

It is a great place to see but get there early! It takes a long time to get through security and we had to wait for tickets (for 1 1/2 hrs), even though we went through our congressman. During the busy season you can't get...More

In my previous visits never was able to make it to this end of the area. The sheer size of it is impressive.

As a photographer, you can't visit DC without a trip to the capital. The photos below were taken with my iPhone, so you can only imagine what I did with my Nikon. Inside and out, it is a great place.

Very important part of any trip to DC. It is our history. Reserve your tour ahead of time and allow yourself a morning or afternoon to learn about what others have sacrificed for.

This was scheduled months in advance just to be sure we would get in during Easter Week. It did not disappoint. Tour guide was outstanding. Have to get special permission to sit in on House or Senate proceedings. Rotunda very interisting—find the “whisper” spot.

Since we were not American citizens, nor did we have a representative to give us an inside peek, we did the next best thing -stood outside the building and took selfies

normally, you can just go to the Capitol and stand in line for vacant tickets if you haven't booked them online. so if you get there later than your tickets say, you'll have to stand in line to get the next available... More

It's worth a shot. The tour of the Capitol that I booked online was a little disappointing. It's very crowded and VERY noisy but the main problem was we didn't get to actually see the the floor of the Senate or the House... More
