The Capitol is among the most architecturally impressive and symbolically important buildings in the world. The Senate and the House of Representatives have met here for more than two centuries. Begun in 1793, the Capitol has been built, burnt, rebuilt, extended, and restored; today, it stands as a monument not only to its builders but also to the American people and their government.

The Capitol was under a considerable amount of construction when we visited in 2/2016 but our tour guide did an excellent job of showing us the Capitol and kept the group engaged throughout. I wish I remembered her name for individual recognition but 10 months has erased that memory. Regardless, the history and the tour made the Capitol our favorite... More

American citizens should know how their Federal Government functions, and a visit to Capitol Hill will give you a first-hand look at how business is conducted in the U.S. Government.

We recently visited the capitol and were very impressed. The sheer size is amazing and all of the interesting statues and artwork will keep your attention for hours. You can take tours and see the Senate and House chambers and many other interesting sites. Each state has 2 statues in the Capitol so it makes for a good hunt for... More

The information you get inside is mostly what you expect. History and some architectural. Not much room to modern innovation or artisctic concepts...

Do not fail to take grade school and high school children during your stay in DC. It is worthy of adult visits too. You will learn and love again the wonderful US of A after hearing and seeing this building and Visitors' Center.

It's huge, impressive, ornate, picturesque, inspiring, (and, okay, a little sad when you think of some of the shenanigans that go on inside of it). But, it's something that every American should see at least once.

One of the most iconic symbols of our country. The dome is nice and shiny. But you aren't getting any closer than 100 meters from the stairs because construction still continues on the lower sections. Still a must that takes you to The Ulysses S. Grant Memorial also.

Great place to see - don't miss the visitor center below the Capitol. Really one of the must sees if you are coming to DC. Don't miss the Supreme Court and the Library of Congress right across the street. Heck - stop by and see your Senator in the buildings surrounding the capital. Most of them are very accessible and... As most buildings in the area, the Capitol is a must-see symbol. It is also simply a very beautiful building.
