The STC has a broad offering of performances, not limited to Shakespeare. I saw the production of "The School for Lies", an adaptation of Moliere's, "The Misanthrope". The amazing cast provided us a night of hilarity. I would also point out the costumes and wigs...More

I saw Moliere's "L' Avare" (The Miser) in London a few eeks ago so decided to see how the Americans would tackle "Le Bourgeois Gentilhomme", which they had translated and renamed "The School for Lies". It was very well done and brilliantly acted. I thoroughly...More

I attended a Behind-the-Scenes tour with a social group. The coordinator had reserved the time for us, so I don't know whether drop-ins are OK. The tour is 1 hour & costs $5. Very worth it. The docent was knowledgeable & personable. I learned many...More

Saw the play “School for Lies” by the Shakespeare Theatre Company at the Lansburgh Theatre in DC on Saturday. Nice place to see a show. Small and intimate theatre and though the show was sold out, we had no trouble getting seated. The Lansburgh is...More

My Girl Scout troop attended the opening night of MacBeth. They loved it. They loved the innovation in the retelling of the story. They loved that some 'non-traditional' lines were thrown in - (my wife won a sweepstakes). We LOVED that the Porter & Banquo...More

While we have been living in DC longer we discovered the Shakespeare Theatre for ourselves maybe 5-6 years ago. We have seen 12-15 performances and been to several cast events. We have seen brilliant productions, some truly at world class level (the regional Tony award...More

Cleverly constructed in Shakespearian meter and with believable character portrayals of the royal family. Gives a bit of education about their democratic system, too. Plot and subplots often treated with humor and touching on timely topics. I think Shakespeare would have approved.
