Brilliant memorial to an amazing man.

Make sure to find out about all the symbolism, amazing! Each section is a term of his presidency and depicts his accomplishments and struggles, both professionally and personally

I visited this Memorial during a twilight bus tour late in the evening on a cold January night. What made it really pretty was how quiet everything was. Since the tour was the only crowd really it made it tranquil and gave us the opportunity to sit and reflect on how great Franklin Delano Roosevelt was and what he accomplished.... More

I was pleasantly surprised to visit this Memorial. But it will take you back to a time when our country was in the depth of the depression and you will understand how bleak things were and what FDR did to help us recover.

Great place for us adults to look at, but as the weather was so cold the kids weren't as interested as us because they were freezing.

So enjoyed this monument. Each of Roosevelt's terms were represented with a different section. Seeing the figures representing the bread and work lines was striking. Also good to see the Roosevelt statue represented in his wheelchair even though Roosevelt tried to avoid being photographed in it. Loved that they had his beloved Scottish Terrier, Fala, depicted with Roosevelt.

Ok to see if you walk from Jefferson Memorial to Lincoln Memorial. Not a must-see for me, definitely not, we ran into it by fluke while walking through the park. The sculptures were quite interesting but again, I wouldn't walk there on purpose.

This is more like an outdoor art/history museum than a memorial. Little kids will like running around but older ones will definitely find much to enjoy. If you can, go at night, when it is especially affecting. Beautiful lighting, lots of water features, with history and art "snuck in" for the unsuspecting. A life size breadline with multiple statues brings... More

In a city of non-stop marble tributes, this one takes an entirely different approach. Four outdoor "rooms", each for 1 of FDR's terms, are landscaped to convey the essence of that term. More like being in a beautiful park than in a typical monument, you can bask in shade, wander among flowers, touch the hands-on sculptures. Don't miss the sculpture... More

The whole memorial will take 20-60 minutes to visit depending on whether you stop to read all the signs or just stroll through. It's outdoors.

We walked about 20 minutes from the Thomas Jefferson memorial on a misty / cold evening. As both Jefferson & FDR are separate from the national mall and the main tourist areas- you can really experience this place without a bunch of people. Several great outdoor memorials and a small but interesting indoor area. The lone park ranger on duty... More
