Located in Ivy City is a cute distillery with handcrafted Italian herbal liqueurs. Stopped in early Saturday evening and was happy to see free street parking right up front. Ample outdoor sidewalk area with tables and umbrellas. Inside is a warehouse with velvet couches and high top tables. There is a tasting bar area as well as a separate cocktail room. TASTING: I would recommend making a reservation on Resy for a free tasting because it became very crowded very quickly. They do offer a self-guided tasting with a booklet that comes with pre-filled plastic cups for $8 per person. We received our tasting from Don Ciccio, Jr. and I thoroughly enjoyed hearing about each liqueur including the history, flavor/herbal notes and the process. It also felt very authentic coming from him with his Italian flare. There were 9 bitter liqueurs and 6 cordials and I loved the tremendous variety and thought of all the potential cocktails I could make at home! FAVORITES: (in order) #1 Concerto: sweet coffee flavor - amazing at room temperature and by itself post dinner, it's suggested over ice cream - yum! Bought a bottle of this for $45 - can't wait to drink this one! #2 C3 - Carciofo: artichoke, cardoons (thistle), grapefruits - this mixes well to make rum Negronis and Americanos - bought a bottle of this for $40. #3 Fincocchietto: I was completely shocked at how much I loved the savory vegetal and anise flavor combo #4 Ambrosia: reminds me of Aperol but with more depth of flavor and easy to do as a spritz COCKTAILS: Ramona: prickly pear, cinque, mezcal, grapefruit soda - complex, a little sour but a refreshing summer drink Peppino: limoncello, gin, lemon, prosecco - reminiscent of French 75 but I found this a little too gin forward They also sell bottled cocktails (750ml) or variety packs which I am interested in trying next time. I would definitely come back and bring friends to try this - I'm certain that everyone would buy at least one bottle!

Cool Bar
Nov 2019
What a pleasant surprise to find Don Ciccios & Figli had joined the Ivy City family of distillers. They moved last May and set up shop of old world, Italian style apertivos and cordials. All Family recipes. All quality ingredients. All small production with love in every bottle. Everything inside is striking with its bold blue diagonal colored walls. What I really liked is that you can taste as much as you want for free and ask as many questions as you want for free. There is a tip or donation jar if you’d like to contribute. The people behind the bar were knowledgeable, offering advice on how to drink their liqueurs and find the most enjoyment. The cocktail bar is worth a visit. Ask the bartender for a suggestion or pick something you want – either way you’ll find an amazing cocktail. I am already planning my next outing with a stop here before dinner in Ivy City. Well Done Don Ciccio & Figli.

Excellent Amaro Testing and Great Little Bar
Jul 2019
Made a pilgrimage to Don Ciccio and Figli to taste all of their products, meet "Don Cicco" and have a couple of great cocktails. Since we live in a controlled state, we can only get a few of their products, so it was a real treat to stop by.

The production facility is right in with the tasting area and the bar is a finished off part of the warehouse. All in all, kind of a cool setup. The tasting brings you through their amaro range from sweet down to their most bitter. The recipes certainly remind me of what I had while in Italy. They are very true to their roots.

once we had completing the tasting, the small bar area had cleared a little bit and there was room in the corner for our group of four. The Don himself, Francesco ‘Ciccio’ Amodeo, was acting as bartender with a very able barback. They poured great cocktails and even made time for brief discussions. Very welcoming and very delicious.

If you are into interesting craft cocktails, or enjoy Italian amaro, you owe it to yourself to make the trip.

amaro tasting and tour
Dec 2018 • Couples
This was a very friendly place to tour and taste. It was an interesting tour that showed how they make some of their flavors. We were able to taste several of them.
