This is not our first visit to the Basilica, but it never gets old! The Basilica is a beautiful piece of architecture, even for non-Catholics. The mosaics throughout the Shrine are the most beautiful I've ever seen. Many of them are done in metallic stones, so they really sparkle and shine in the light, and truly make you feel that... There is a guided tour who explains the various chapels inside the cathedral. After the tour, I had a chance to say confession and attend the noon mass. It is accessible by Metro.

What a beautiful Basilica. I had done research prior to my visit to DC and was really looking forward to visiting here. When you arrive the massive Basilica stands tall with a blue dome and a bell tower. I took pictures when I arrived and later in the evening before I left. The Basilica is lite up at night and... 2015-16 was the Holy Year of Mercy and I walked through the Door of Mercy into this beautiful cathedral. I have been to numerous beautiful cathedrals in Europe and this church, the largest in the USA is magnificent. Take a tour on-line but if you are in D.C., well worth going in person.

This is a beautiful church with lots of history. Highly recommend taking one of the guided tours, particularly through the lower level of the basilica to understand the history behind the many different chapels.

It is very easy to get to the Basilica: red metro line to Brookland-CUA or bus #80. You can't miss it when you get close--the tower is majestic and the basiiica itself is the largest in North America and one of the 10 largest in the world. The exterior is magnificent and the interior decoration is beyond comprehension. It is... More

Is huge and beautiful with different rooms and the Trinity Dome, it also has beautiful sacred art. If you are catholic or not I am pretty sure you will enjoy the incredible architecture.

An impressive Basilica, its architecture design and all its catholic components are plenty for a visit. We stayed for mass at the small chapel downstairs and visited the small shrines around the main building in both floors dedicated to different catholic saints. We visited our Lady of Guadalupe and our Lady of Lourdes. There is plenty to visit, there is parking... More
