We stopped here with a bus group near the end of a Saturday afternoon service. We were allowed to still wander in the wings and sit in the pews. The cathedral is obviously huge and beautiful with excellent acoustics. It was nice to experience part...More

regardless of one's religious background this place is just magnificent and worth seeing. Besides exploring the main hall you can take a special guided tour of the towers (specific time/date) or just use one of the elevators to go up for a great view and...More

After visiting the National Cathedral we visited the Basilica. We are so blessed to have such beautiful spots to worship. You will be here awhile if you check out the whole building. You don't need to be Catholic to appreciate this spot.

I'm a Christian and I found this basilica a solemn place to pray. The structure is so huge and you will find a quiet place to pray and worship God.

The inside is better than the outside. There is a large café when you first enter. We had a good look around but unfortunately we could not go up the dome or past a certain area as something had fallen from the roof and it...More

This church dedicated to the Blessed Virgin Mary has 73 altars all done in mosaic tiles. Each altar is dedicated to the Blessed Mother from various countries. From the outside you would never know what's so special inside. They also have a restaurant and a...More

Located on the campus of Catholic University, this beautiful church is similar to ones found in Europe. Tours are not needed, nor is a long time commitment to see it. Worth the trip if you using Metro while in DC

This is probably not for everyone but I thought it was really cool. Not only is it a beautiful church, but they have statues/little altars of the different "Mary's" from around the world. I knew that Poland and other countries had their special place for...More

We were shocked by the size of it as we came up the hill from the the Metro station. In addition to a beautiful main church, there were numerous side chapels to visit. It would be impossible to pick a favorite, as all were unique...More

Yes it is!!! I did it myself to get there. It is also beautiful because you need to enter the Catholic university to get there. It is a short walk really. I recommend it.

There are many areas as well as another floor in the Basilica. We had a tour while there was a high school graduation mass in the main church.
