A MustSee! Try to get to the Latin Mass if you're in town on a Sunday. Very moving for old-school Catholics

If you're in DC, you have to visit. When you enter, you are in a Cathedral straight out of Europe. The history of the Basilica is amazing and the gift shop is a great place to buy books, trinkets, and unique items.

I could visit here 10 times and still see new things. It is a magnificent church. There is so much beauty, it is unreal. Definitely one of the most beautiful churches I have ever seen, and that includes a lot of churches I saw in Italy. A definite "do not miss"! We walked around every nook and cranny for about... I went to Christmas morning mass at the Basilica. I left from Adams Morgan and took the metro and felt so blessed to arrive just in time mass started. The church was so beautiful and the mass even more. This was one place I was very excited to go to on my trip to Washington DC. After mass I was... More

Went there for Midnight Mass on a Christmas Eve. Such a beautiful place and all of the tradition of the Catholic mass was impressive. The music was elegant

I drove but the Metro Brookland stop is walkable. It is a must see for Catholics because the Pope said his Mass here but all people will enjoy the magnificence of the basilica. The stain glass windows are worth seeing.

Every time I'm in Washington, I try to come here to visit. There is so much beauty, it's impossible to take it all in. We spent about an hour before Mass walking around and viewing the stunning mosaics. The church looked beautiful as it was decorated for Christmas. We went to Mass on New Year's Eve and the church was... More

The small chapels inside on the upper and lower level, alone are beautiful and worth seeing. The main church and crypt church are beautiful and inspiring for worship. We came for the vigil of the solemnity of Mary mother of God. During the Christmas season, the entire church is decorated amazingly. The Basilica store is split into two parts, one... More

The largest Catholic church in America never fails to impress, despite repeated visits. We attended the special Children's Mass on Christmas Eve with it appeared about 10,000 of our closest friends! An amazing experience to be amongst so many believers and non-Catholics alike in a time of national crisis and world turmoil If you have the time, visit the amazing... More

This church has quite an impressive architecture both inside and out. The stained glass windows and mosaics are great works of art. The basilica houses 70 chapels honoring Mary It takes a while to explore all. These 70 chapels and sacred images flank the sides of the upper church and crypt. It contains many works of art that are absolutely... More
