This is informative for foreigners visiting DC. US Citizens can get access to The White House through representatives at Capitol. Foreigners not so. This is a good substitute

Excellent video to get you started. Go through a screening process (purses) when you enter. Start with the video. Take time with all the photos and displays. Laid out very well. Gift shop is quality and interesting and unique.

This was my first time, but I have the feeling each time you did this tour you would learn a lot of history. I throughly enjoyed both our tour guide and the history. We booked through our Representative, but there seems to be a place where you don't have to have reservations. Note: Go during the week. We went on... More

One cannot always plan ahead the 90 days or so needed to be able to tour the actual White House, but the Visitors Center which is only a block away offers an amazing alternative. Going on a Sunday is good timing: less crowds, available street parking and the ability to move about easily. Both the volunteers and the rangers are... More

This was our first here and we enjoyed it. It’s a small museum displaying artifacts from the white house and its grounds. It was very informative. It’s worth spending about an hour here or a little more.

I was super disappointed as a foreigner I was unable to visit the actual White House, but this place was packed with all the info you could want about America's most famous residence. A moving video from recent residents the Bush and Clinton families and it's current (for the next two weeks!)residents, the Obamas. Some fascinating stories about the first... More

The White House Visitors Center is located a few blocks from The White House. It has a nice selection of artifacts. There were a few interactive exhibits. The gift shop has a nice variety of items.

I was surprised buy how much I like the White House Visitors Center. It gives a good history about the house but also humanize the first families who live there. The museum show the White House as a place that the first family lives daily. Its less than a block from the White House South Lawn.
