Ran of of steam before we ran out of art

There is just too much to see in one visit. We were there for over 3 hours and couldn't see it all. This is always a must see anytime we go to DC.

This museum celebrates the contribution of all American artists, be they native born or immigrants to this great nation. Two recent exhibitions there of two artists, Isamu Noguchi and Gene Davis, prove that point. Both artists have their own styles but are equally compelling. There are rooms devoted to many other artists, both living or dead. Very worthwhile viewing, indeed.

Only had 2 hours free to tour the museum. I could have spent the day! I went to see the presidents portraits but that exhibit was closed. I was not disappointed with the other exhibits.

Excellent museum that isn't the best art museum in DC but is one of the more interesting experiences for those interesting in American art. Much more explanatory than some of the others Smithsonians. Easy to learn a lot here.

There were many interesting pieces, but definitely not the recognizable masters you will find at the National Gallery of Art. It is a fine museum open to the public with hat/coat check lockers that don't work! And we were told they couldn't be fixed.

Free museum unlike the. International Spy Museum situated just across the road. The staff at the reception was very helpful, explained to us how to go about the place, equipped us with a Visitor Map. First we went through the Experience America section. To know America is to love America. Then we proceeded to the Folk and Self Taught Art,... More

The art in this place is magnificent. We were going to skip this museum but because it was extremely hot and we wanted somewhere cool for a minute we went in and didn't regret one minute. We spent about two hours just looking at the art from around the world. This is a must see!

I stopped off here while visiting in DC and was really impressed by the exhibits in this museum. The facilities here were also great and all for FREE as well.

This was a must see on our list for DC museums and we are very glad we went! The building itself is gorgeous and the paintings and art were truly amazing. A lot of walking, but well worth it!! Don't miss it!
