Swimming, camping, canoeing, paddle boats, cabins for rent, hiking, biking, playgrounds....so much to do. Pay attention though, because mountain bikes and people share the paths. Get a map at the guardhouse and you can see the variety of paths. Several convenient parking spaces. Cool area...More

The Chew used to be the same po-dunk experience as any other Alabama State Park, but the committed biking community in the area has made it one of the greatest attractions in the southeast. Lots of trails - from beginner to white knuckle teeth grinding...More

We visited this park today while in town for a short spell and it was very lovely. Bathrooms were clean and the lake was serene. We took the short but challenging hike to the falls and relaxed for a few minutes. It was a nice...More

We like State Parks and this one was no exception. Hook-ups could have been a little better placed. They assign your site but you can choose another. So just be sure to check before taking site. Apparently a great place for mountain biking. Convenient from...More

This place is great - and has been for decades - as a place to get away from studying inside a building and getting outdoors for fresh air and sunshine! Great place for a day out walking and hiking. Good for walking dogs.

This is a fantastic park to visit for the day or to camp for the weekend. Lots of things to see and do...especially for the 🚴! Cabins are neat and the primitive grounds are fun too.

Nice park for overnight although our pull through gravel site was a bit tight, probably normal for a state park. Lots of great trees. We walked toward the lake and found that it was closed with no explanation as to why. We heard the waterfall...More

We appreciate you supporting our park and apologize for your inconveniences. Your entrance fees and boat rental fees are standard at most parks and are actually how we generate most of our revenue. We are one of the oldest parks in the system which has...More

Good trails (hike & bike), lake, waterfall, cabins, campground (full hookup & primitive), boats, canoes, paddle boats, etc. My wife and I hiked some trails, saw the waterfall, drove through the campgrounds, saw the cabins, beach, and the swimming platform with diving board. The park...More

Thanks for your visit and support. The waterfall is man made to dam up the lake. It was built in the 1930s by the CCC.
