A lot of ride closures, but good trip overall
First we had a great time. Not sure why there were so many closures. Splash mountain was is down for a total refurbishment but why do this right before the summer in the hottest months ? Also Alice In Wonderland, Swiss Family Treehouse. And in DCA Soaring over the world. The bathroom besides the Tiki room was closed. Also New Orleans square is doing a big remake for Tianna. So all in all looked like a construction zone. I can’t remember when the park has been In suck rebuild , closure. In the summer months ever and I have been going for 40 years. I will be back but not for a few years. As the poor attraction management downtimes in the busiest of seasons. Gave me a bit of a bad taste.

    Disneyland on 4th 2023
4th of July was great at Disneyland! The firework work show was so patriotic it was amazing, all the songs they played which included our red white and blue flag on Matterhorn and Castle were absolutely beautiful! You have to really see it if you appreciate all the effort Disneyland put forward or celebration of Independence Day. Walt would have been so proud, all the children and families looked happy, I hope Disney stays on this course and returns the magic back to the children. God Bless, B. Lopez

    Thoroughly enjoyed my time!!
This is the 2nd Disneyland I was visiting, after having visited Disneyland Paris twice. All in all a nice experience, however the size of the castle was very underwhelming!! Couple of tips; get there as soon as it opens and if you are a Star Wars fan, hit Galaxy's Edge as soon as you arrive to avoid the massive queues that build up really quickly from 10ish in the morning onwards DO not miss the parade! I thought the one in Disneyland Paris was brilliant, until I watched this which is hands down the best Disneyland parade I ever watched. whilst there, my favourite ride, Big Thunder Mountain kept breaking so get on it first thing in the morning! We Uber-ed from a hotel on Sunset Blvd as we didn't want to stay around Disneyland. The times we ubered the rate was quite reasonable as it was around $50 to get us there in the morning and $48 to get us back to the hotel in the afternoon around 16:30ish

    Peak nostalgia
I came here once or twice when I was a small child but haven't been here in years (normally ( go to DisneyWorld in Orlando, since it's closer to me), but when we were in LA for a few days, we decided to come here for a visit. The park hasn't changed much from what I remember it being years ago: the same quaint village charm and fun rides, seemingly unchanged. Tomorrowland remains my favorite part of the park, although Main Street is a close second. The rides were still fun and generally worth the wait, although if you can get the FastPass (now called Genie+), then the price is also worth it. The lines were incredibly long and the whole park was overcrowded, which took away from the specialness of the park. Yes, it's part of the Disney system, but having to make my way through sweaty crowds and hawkish vendors is a bit less pleasant. Apparently this place gets more visitors than DisneyWorld, maybe because it's so close to Los Angeles. I'd suggest eating before entering the park so you don't have to spend as much on overpriced food.

Get the Hopper Pass and Got Back and Forth in the 2 Parks
Just Amazing. I have been to both Disneyland and Disney World and Disneyland is not quite as large but offers a lot for the kids and family to do. There are 2 parks so get the hopper pass so you can go back and forth. All the rides were fun especially at Cars Land. It was a great experience.

    Disneyland- A must for Seniors
My wife and I are seniors and had a terrific time at Disneyland this week (Sept 2023) with my grandchildren. I have been to the park many times, with my first visit in 1958. Over the years, my wife and I have taken our two boys to both CA and FL, but Disneyland will always be my favorite. It has been about 10 years since I have been at the park, and my expectations were greatly exceeded. What a first-class operation! From ticketing to ease of navigating the park. We bought Genie Passes, which I highly recommend. We got on all the rides that I had planned ahead of time, and with minimal wait time. Everything in the park was spotless, well maintained, and so visually impressive. I would like to give a shout out to the friendly and helpful staff, thanks for your patience and courteous manner. Obviously, this is the happiest place on earth! Security was also top notch, not always obvious but always there to assist. As you can imagine, the park accommodates a lot of people. It was orderly and pleasant to be there. I must say the guests were some of the nicest and most courteous people I have ever encountered. It was fun to see young families, couples, and older adults all having a great time at Disneyland. I highly recommend Disneyland to my fellow seniors, especially couples. Lots of walking will be required, but the enjoyment of seeing and experiencing the imagination of Disney is thrilling at any age!

    Amazing place
What a fun place for the whole family. We went during the week so the crowd wasn’t too bad. Definitely purchase the genie plus express pass to cut down the waiting lines. Only downside, once you booked in a time slot with your genie pass you can’t book another ride for another 2 hours. The radiator springs racers and guardians of the galaxy breakout were fantastic. The Incredicoaster was also fun… definitively do it during the day and the night.

Must see once in your life and more
My wife and I as Californian tourist spend one full day there from 9 am till 11 pm. Time passed so fast and full of memories. Ticket is expensive but it worth. There is no discount or bonus but in calendar you can find some days with better price .( week days..). Management is incredible. You should choose between two theme park. I definitely suggest Disneyland for one day. There is two kink of parking 30 $ and 50$. 30 $ is a little father but very convenient. Bring refreshments and water ... There are lots of queue and best time for eating . I got a locker and put food and drinks and jackets inside and two or three times I came and refill the back back.small licker for 7$ enough for a bag pack and a good saving of money and time because food and beverage is more expensive there and waste your valuable time. Dont forget the parade and shows.

First time back to Disneyland since Covid and my family was sorely disappointed in the shape the park is in now. Dirty bathrooms, rude cast members, inability to handle the simplest logistics. We took a quick trip to Anaheim to visit the park with our 7 and 4 year old and it was a nightmare.

1st suggestion: Go elsewhere. Disneyland isn't worth the money, even when they're discounting tickets. Especially with young children. Just lower your expectations and go somewhere like Legoland. Much better bang for your buck. And shorter waits, too. My family really wanted to ride the Cars ride and the wait was down to 60 minutes so we decided to go ahead and wait. 15 minutes into the queue the wait was still 60 minutes. We ended up waiting 2 and a half hours. My wife and daughter bailed because she had to go to the bathroom and they didn't even get to ride. Meanwhile we watched as cars full of single riders just marched on by us. When I raised concern to the cast member, they didn't say a word and just walked away. We almost missed dinner, my son missed the parade, daughter didn't even get to ride the ride. Just a complete mess.

2nd suggestion: If you can't escape the Disney mystique, spend the extra money and go to Walt Disney World. Having gone to both in the last few years and experienced them both post-Covid, all of Disney's efforts in parks have clearly been allocated to the Florida resort. If you have to go Disney, save yourself a terrible experience and go to Florida instead.

3rd suggestion: If you're trapped into Disneyland, just expect the worst. Lower your expectations as far as possible. Don't eat dinner inside the resort. That was the biggest mistake we made. We weren't sat for an hour after our reservation time and missed just as much time at the park as if we had left. Cast members didn't even apologize and acted as if they didn't care, until I complained openly. It was pathetic.

4th suggestion: Don't expect the same bubbly, fun, informative, and helpful cast members. Training and hiring has clearly taken a turn for the worst. We had rude cast members at both parks across multiple days. There were a few decent ones but for the most part they were a disaster. And when concerns were raised, I was met with "Ok, whatever" followed by a cast member walking away. We were with friends who have an annual pass and they confirmed that the quality of cast members has declined significantly in the last few years.

Just an awful time. I wouldn't wish it on my worst enemies. Please save yourself and go somewhere else, anywhere else. We've been lucky enough to save 2 friends from taking this vacation in the last few weeks and hopefully this review saves you from making the same mistake. Best of luck if you do go!

We had a great time. It is what you make of it.

The sole reason for my 3 stars and review are for the ride and parade crowd personnel. It used to be they were friendly and engaging, but now I feel like I’m greeted by the TSA at the airport at every ride. They all yelled at everyone to fill in all the gaps so we were jam packed in lines inches apart. Not sure the need for this as I think being 1-2 feet away from the next guest party is appropriate. The parade crowd employees were worse than an officer directing traffic. I witnessed several yelling at guests as if they knew where to go. Terrible look for first time visitors especially if they aren’t local. Not sure what happened to create this decline. Maybe poor management for this department…The employees managing trash and the bathrooms were all happy and cheery so clearly that’s the job to have.

I have been going to Disney Parks off and on since childhood and taking my kids since they were little. We don’t live anywhere near Disneyland so this was a three day drive to get out to California. We had only been to the West Coast park one time as a family in August of 2017 and we had an amazing time. Since then, we have been to Disney World twice with each trip getting less enjoyable (and us spending less time at Disney/more time at Universal). This was probably our last trip to a Disney Park. Sorry for long intro but you need to know we are, in fact, fans. This trip was the most expensive but the least enjoyable ever.

First the crowds - why have a reservation system? (clearly they have some control)
Lines for bathrooms (not just some bathrooms)
Rides breaking all over
Genie + was pretty useless because of broken rides and crowds (passes gone by noon or only a couple rides/late times left)
Spend time walking to a ride, waiting in a line (yes a lightening lane LINE only for the ride to break before we could board), they give you a recovery any ride pass, trek to another ride and the same process happens all over again. It’s like they are doing no ride maintenance.
The decision to do multiple closures and/or refurbs at the same time when they know the park is at capacity ( reservation system)
What happened to all the photo pass photographers?
The sound on some rides is turned way up for no apparent reason (Mickeys Runaway Railway). I am HOH and it was loud. I can’t imagine what people with noise sensitivity feel like on that ride.
Their guide for neurodiversity lists places to take a break that are literally closed BY THEM for refurbishment

I will write a separate review of World of Color dessert party, but that is a complete rip off even by Disney Dessert party standards (and if you’ve been to one you one what I mean). We knew we were mostly paying for a seat, but this was just ridiculous. Do not do it.

I only wish I’d planned better and made time for the beach or San Diego zoo instead. Much better use of time at this point.

Disneyland is simply a greedy corporation who sees people as credit cards.
My son got sick the day before he was supposed to go. We don’t live in the states and have no other opportunity to take him. But of course: no refund. They take our money and won’t even give us money to spend in the park instead. Because they don’t care about people. You are just a credit card to them. I recommend smaller theme parks that have more heart. Disneyland lost theirs many decades ago. Their reputation as greedy and expensive is true.

OVERPRICED! STAFF DON'T CARE! CROWDED! Everything is designed to take more and more money from you. Pay for the Gene Plus and then find out you need to pay even more ( $26 per person ) to use that Genie Plus on Rise of the Resistance. PASS! I'm done!

Overall Disneyland has really gone downhill. The wait times are atrociously long so in order to actually do anything in the park efficiently you have to upgrade for a fee to Genie plus which only allows you one lightning lane per ride per day (previously fast pass that was free) excluding the most popular rides like Star Wars rise of the resistance and Cars where to lightning lane would cost close to $30USD a person. The crowds are out of control which is also confusing because in order to enter the park after you purchase your ticket you must book a park reservation which in theory would mean they are regulating the amount of people in and out to control crowds but in reality they are selling as many tickets as possible and resulting in an insanely packed park. This along with the hiked up prices for mediocre food and just deteriorating quality of the park experience has left me more than wanting. It feels the magic has been replaced by a money hungry Mickey that cares more about a profit than the magic it used to hold.

All of the Disney promotions on ticket prices to keep attendance up is not only crowding the parks but bringing a different crowd dynamics into the park.

We went twice over two months.

In our May trip, we drove there and parked at the main parking structure. When we arrived at the park tram, the security was power tripping over where each person would line up. Forget questioning the necessity of his role as people would naturally line up in the shortest queue, but he was more inefficient demanding people queue in the lines he told them to go to. There were clear space in the lines behind him and his point of view but won’t get into that. What got me was how rude he was and wouldn’t let anyone line up in the line they chose. I think they need to train their cast members a bit better on remembering where they are.

In our June trip, we decided to stay two nights at Disney Grand California, so we can take advantage of early entry. We left 20 min before rope drop and was greeted by a queue as long as the Peter Pan line to get through security. Clearly most of these people were not staying at grand California but found the loophole on a shorter security line. Unfortunately it sucked all of the time we had and we went in along with the rope drop people. All in, wouldn’t stay at Disney hotels again for early entry if you need to leave the parks before 6:30am to use it…

But that wasn’t the “happiest” experience I had at Disneyland that day. No I’m not talking about the genie LL that causes my whole family to chaotically dart across the park after each ride, when in the pre-Genie past we had some sort of geographic order on how we visited the parks. Great if you’re counting steps. Not so great when those steps are done by little legs (children).

The “happiest” time came at night as the parks got more crowded. I was leading my family through a crowd and I bumped into an “angry dad” in opposite traffic. Before I said excuse me and move to the side, he takes his hand and tries to push through on my chest like he’s opening a door. Shocked and confused, before I can respond, I see this “angry dad” angle his elbow and elbow me in my stomach. I said excuse me!?, and he brushes me off by then moving to the side and huffing away without any apology. Yeah, is this still the Happiest Place!?

I have been to Disneyland countless times and twice in the past 6 months. I took my 13 year old for his first time last November and then my son and fiance as well as my sister and her family yesterday. I would at least recommend that you go once. It's an experience for sure. It's expensive for lower quality food but the memories are priceless. Probably got 20,000 steps. Got the lightning pass and wouldn't do it any other way. Perfect weather this time around, bought Mickie ears and a backpack which I absolutely love. Was able to experience this with my nieces and having my fiance there too was special. Our favorite rides were the Millennium Falcon (all of us loved it - and there were 11 of us!) And if you like roller coasters, Thunder Mountain Railroad!

Nickel and Dimed To Death with the added benefit of rude ticket taker. Made our reservations through Disney Travel, with stay at the Disneyland hotel, Hopper tickets and Express lane for rides for a couple and family of 4. A Ridiculous expense for 3 days stay. Upon arriving at the gate the first day our etickets wouldn’t scan. The ticket taker got indignant and asked what I’d done? She was adamant that it was my fault although I had ordered everything through the Disney Travel Agency. Finally went to a different ticket taker and she got it figured out.
On top of that they wanted extra money to use the Express lane for Space Mountain ($30/person). It was 75 minutes standing in the regular line to get into the ride. Food was super expensive for barely acceptable, except a a few nicer restaurants in Downtown Disneyland.
