Great hike

Loved the hike in this community forest. It's nice to see a community take pride in its resources and take care of the beautiful forest.

Being a local, we visit this community forest all the time. It is easily one of the best parks/forests found within or adjacent to a city limits that I have ever experience. The forest contains numerous connecting trails that highlight a beautiful second growth redwood forest. In addition to hiking trails, the forest contains great mountain bike and horse trails.... Our son goes to HSU and met us at the park between classes. Our granddaughter loved all the things to play on and watching all the dogs chasing balls. Lot's of people hanging out, some reading, doing homework, playing guitars, running their dogs etc. Plenty of trails in the forest next to the park, and we saw several people running... More

If I lived there, I would go to this park every day and take a wonderful walk along the extra wide trails with all the magical redwood giant trees.

This community forest its right next to Humboldt State University. I like that is pet friendly but the downside is that you have to watch out for dog poop! This forest has some gorgeous views and i also found a banana slug

What can be said about the most incredible forests in the World? You have to experience this - the coastal Sequoia redwood forests have 5 times the bio mass of the next closest forests in the World per sq'. Well tenured paths and friendly dog walkers and trekkers. Also, this forest gets highest marks for conservation and how they care... More

Who knew there was a Redwood forest right in the town of Arcata. We went way north to visit some of the forests and parks. Our last day we didn't want to travel far so we found the community forest. It was beautiful!! We walked the path for a while and really enjoyed the afternoon.

Main entrance was closed so we parked on the street and took the hiking trail. Half way on our hike my daughter stepped in dog poop that seemed to be everywhere on the trail. Other than the poop issue was a good hike and playground was nice.

We've been here various times before and will be back in the future, as we LOVE hiking around the Arcata Community Forest, breathing the fresh air, communing with the magnificent trees, seeing all the shades of green, listening to the streams, being with being itself.

Even though the trees here are not as huge as the other areas they are still no less amazing! The area is great for a hike or short walk, and the air is so fresh and clean that it is invigorating!
