My brother was in World War II and was actually MP stationed in Auburn to help protect the railways. The pictures of that era were very interesting to me.

There is no entrance fee so it's hard to beat. The volunteer staff were very good and extremely friendly. Gave me a nice overview and history of the area. It's small but nice.

The building is still in use, so the museum itself is only on the first floor. In fact, we almost didn't go in, because the building doesn't look old enough to be a museum at all and we thought we'd gotten lost somehow.

I LOVE small museums with tales of history. Located in the historic courthouse, you will enjoy the tales of the jail, newspaper clippings, old phones, gold discovery docs and more.

American Indians and the Gold Rush had two different implications on the local history but the exhibits in the Museum do well in telling both stories. There are several displays of Indian Crafts, baskets, clothes, plus tools and other objects from the early days of...More
