John was a retired professor from Cal Poly. He led our tour and kept us entertained with so many little facts and interesting tidbits of information. He does this every week on a volunteer basis! A lovely little side trip and step back into history!

What a cool lighthouse. Very knowledgeable docents. The ride to/from the site is is worth the price of admission itself. Unfortunately you are only allowed 1 hour on site. Ride to/from is about 20 minutes each.
Nice t shirt selection. You can also hike it by looking at the PG&E website (Guide required).

We chose to do the 3.75 mild guided hike to the lighthouse and did the tour. The guide's were very informative and knowledgeable of the area. It was our 1st lighthouse tour and loved it. If your a hiker, I highly reccomend to do the hike up to the lighthouse...great views, beautiful hike and must register (offered on wed and thurs, no children under 9)

If you are a local resident, or a visitor to the area, this is worth the time to tour this restored lighthouse and learn about the history of Avila and the people who served a the lighthouse caretakers.

The lighthouse is accessible only by a guided hike or a rather nailbiting ride over the hill to the site. The lighthouse is a beautiful Victorian, different than most others with the light attached. The history of how important this area was during the war was very interesting. A worthwhile visit.

I’m almost hesitant to write this, as I seem to be in the minority.... but I found the tour quite boring. I’m late 30’s so perhaps I felt I could have found something more exciting. The tour guide was good, but it just wasn’t for me. Sorry.

We were encouraged to take the lighthouse tour by our hotel manager.
It was a fantastic 2 hour experience. The docents were very engaging and informative Since it was a perfect weather day, over 70 degrees and clear it made for a great time.
At $22.00 for adults it is also a very good value.

Point San Luis Light Station was founded in 1890. The lighthouse is open for tours on Wednesdays and Saturdays. A visitor can take a trolley or hike up. Both options require a reservation. The views from the historic site are amazing.

A tour worth taking with spatular views. The historic light house tour guides are great and share a lot of history. It is a protected area and not open to the public to tour individually but only with a tour guide.

Is there a way to get to lighthouse if you are not physically able to do the hike
how much cost for seniors citizen for trail and if want to use truly?

I am not sure what the cost is for hikers. For security reasons there is a docent that leads the hikes. You can contact the Point San Luis Lighthouse website and request more information.
My husband and I are both seniors and we chose the trolley ride because we were not sure how strenuous the hiking trail would be and did not want to get halfway into it and decide it was not for us. The trolley ride was fun and the driver had a great sense of humor and also provided some of the history or the lighthouse.
Where do we meet to be driven to the lighthouse

Out the resort, turn left and it's about a block down across the street. The Timeshare counter reps were great with assistance for buying the tickets and giving us the directions directions.

My son is going to get married at the lighthouse. How accessible is it? Are surrounding trails steep? What kind of surface they have? How far is the place for weddings from the shuttle stop? Are there golf carts to help me around?

I think the only question not previously answered is about the golf carts. I don't remember seeing any golf carts around. It's a beautiful beautiful location though! The suggestion for going to the website is probably the best way to answer all of your questions.

How to arrange for trolley and tour and cost per person (2 senior adults)

I recommend the ladies wear slacks/jeans if you would like to climb to the top of the lighthouse. It is a narrow, adventurous staircase to the top. Worth it!
