On our last visit to the Pismo Beach area my husband and I found the Bob Jones City to Sea Bike Trail. This is a pleasant paved trail that takes you straight into Avila Beach. Highly recommended for those who like to take a nice stroll but not interested in straining themselves too much!

Loved riding my bike along this trail. Beautiful and serene. Best of all no cars! Great little market that serves food along the path.

Stream and most of the trail is beautiful. One part, though a huge California King snake slithered across the pavement, is shared with cars which enter into a gated community which is kind of weird.

Bob Jones trail is everything reviewers said it was. A breathtaking, safe & immaculately maintained path that just lifts your spirits as you take in the natural beauty around you. It cuts through the golf course & then follows along the boundary of some high end houses. My 11 year old daughter & I walked the entire 5 mile trail... More

This trail starts outside of downtown Avila. It goes over the San Luis Obispo River where you can see birds, flowers, and the occasional seal. The trail continues past fields of wildflowers into eucalyptus and native oak stands. The trail ends at a café.

Beautiful 3 mile trail leading to Avila beach. Kids took their scooters, played in a little playground along the way. The trail goes through a golf course and is pretty flat all the way. I took my son's scooter on the way back and drove the car from the start of the trail to the beach..:) was an awesome 20... More

Not exactly spectacular views, but a mild way to get from the Avila Village Center where we were staying down to Avila Beach.

This trail was by far the best part of our weekend getaway to Avila beach. It had rained a few days before and the wildflowers were blooming. The trail is open to walkers and bicyclists. Highly recommend.

We rented bikes and really enjoyed the Bob Jones trail, but earlier is better as it can get crowded as the day progresses. You can also walk the trail easily. There is a market right on the trail you can stop at half way for a meal or snack. For a longer trek you can take the trail to Avila... More
