This was a beautiful hike! I live at sea level and had a difficult time getting to the lake. There were many times that I thought I would turn back. We even saw a bear in the distance. With quite a few rest stops I...More

What a terrific hike.............but beware if you are a flatlander as I am. Trailhead is at 9,900 feet and trail rises 2,000 feet, mostly over 2.5 miles. So even if you are in shape the altitude can be an issue, particularly on the last eight...More

This is a six-mile hike that takes you to a spectacular alpine lake at 11,900'. It is not a novice hike whatsoever--not because it is technical, but because it is physically demanding. There is very little flat terrain, so you are either ascending or descending...More

This is a tough hike, the trail is fairly steep and constantly so in the early part. Then, you get to a relatively level expanse that is entirely made of rock that is quite beautiful to walk through. The kicker is at the end, where...More

This was a steep hike and I thought my lungs were going to explode, but the destination made it all worth while. It wasn't hard to see why this is one of the more popular hikes around Aspen

This was our alternative to visiting Maroon Bells (completely overrun due to leaf peeping); and what an amazing discovery. Be prepared - it isn't a hike for the feint of heart - lots of intense uphill, but totally worth it when you get to Cathedral...More

We missed the entrance and started pear pass a mile or so down the road so we did about 3.5 miles before starting Cathedral which didn't help me at all. Hahaha At the end of the day we took 1.5 hours up and my hiking...More

This is a spectacular hike through trees (when turning color, the Aspens are to die for) and up switch backs. 2.8 mile hike which gains 2000 vertical feet, so you need to be ready for it, but it so totally worth it. The lake (see...More

Cathedral Lake trail is awesome. Get there early because parking fills up fast. The trail is a great workout. It starts with switchbacks but eases up for a good breather at points on the hike.

this year (2016)...i'd say yes...but it depends on the late season snow...which has been plentiful.
