First off there are no green runs here... None/Nada!! Beautiful scenery. The vertical is good. The runs are not super long except from top to bottom. Lots of great blacks, but with poor snow this season I mainly stuck to blue groomers!

Colorado is the place for fine skiing. You have many choices for snowboarding and skiing. When selecting a mountain to challenge your skiing you really need to understand the different runs each mountain offers. If your a great skier you must ski Ajax.

Accessible from the middle of town via the gondola, Aspen Mt is a great place to ski. Trails are usually well-groomed and well-marked, with three main chairlifts servicing the top of the mountain (plus goldola), and several other chairs on the mountain. While it’s nowhere...More

Locals talk about how Ajax's 675 skiable acres "ski big for its size". With a lift almost everywhere you turn, and impeccable grooming on a highly interconnected set of trails, Ajax lives up to that billing. I found it easy to ski from one side...More

I was prepared to skip this mountain and only hit Highlands and Snowmass assuming that the mountain didn't get a lot of sun when no fresh snow fell & there wasn't enough there to make for a long, fulfilling day. Wow, was I wronger than...More

It's walking distance from downtown Aspen. has some awesome runs, some aspen glade skiing, some good steep runs... Not too many choices for beginners. The food on the mountain next to the gondola is good too. At the end of the day stop by Ajax...More

Just returned from a great family ski trip. Loved the efficiency (and comfort) of the Gondolas. Attendants helped load skis and we discovered that the Red Gondolas are Bluetooth compatible so we were able to play music on our trip up to the top. Needed...More

But pretty small. Got boring after three days. Of course you can hop a bus (free) and have your skis transferred ($10) and get to three other ski areas in minutes.

Even if you don’t ski, take the gondola to the top of the Mountain to view the most beautiful site of Aspen. Good choice of menu items to eat indoors or out. Weather permitting, lots of activities for children and adults. Music playing jugglers photographers...More

Unless you are seriously fit and have an hour or more to spare, I wouldn't hike up the mountain. It takes about 30 minutes to get to the top while riding the lift so walking it is not achievable for most, I think. I can't... More

Hi Karen, I don’t ski - my other half is the skier. Your best bet is to Phone a local ski shop, ask for a local who skis and have a discussion with them. Just about everyone, in most shops are Aussies who live and work... More
