This building truly may be the ugliest building in Aspen. How its architecture was ever approved by the powers that be amazes us, as it does not even begin to fit in with the surrounding architecture, nor does it make any attempt to do so--it simply sticks out like a sore thumb, and you cannot miss this monstrosity as soon... This is a quick (free) visit which is a convenient must-see break from the slopes. Interesting and modern, the two large exhibit rooms are thoughtfully curated.

The museum’s new $45 million building recently opened to great fanfare, and some controversy, in downtown Aspen. The contemporary building was designed by Japanese architect, Shigeru Ban, and has three floors of galleries and a rooftop deck and cafe overlooking the mountains. There is no permanent collection, just temporary exhibitions, so make sure to check out the website to see... More

I love this place. I have seen some really exciting exhibits here. Many quite challenging, and needing of explanation. Which, it so happens, is fine, as at the entrance to each gallery there is a pamphlet explaining about the artists and their motives. And if that fails, I have found many of the people working there very helpful in guiding... More

This is a difficult place to rate. The museum is so stunningly beautiful on the outside (for example see the photo of the benches on the sidewalk next to the museum), but the art on the inside is just not interesting. I've been to the museum three times and to exemplify how boring and odd the displays are: at our... More

the building is very interesting but the "art" we saw is what gives modern art a bad name. Was not impressed, hopefully other shows are better.

I am probably a little old fashioned but I found this Art Muesum a bit pretentious and 'try hard'. We didn't got to the upstairs cafe but it had a lovely outlook.

Well worth your time with several though provoking displays. Museum staff are very well informed and engaging. Don't miss the outstanding lunch (11am-2pm) is served on the top floor of museum !!

The museum building is a nice model architecture building. It houses temporary exhibits with no permanent exhibition. There is nice view of the city and surroundings from the fourth floor which is in fact the main point of interest. The admission to the museum is free.
