We have been here a few times over the past few years and every time we visit the views and environment never cease to amaze us! Sitting at the foot of the mountain and seeing its mass reflection is unlike anything else. Highly recommend getting...More

Worth every penny to take the shuttle bus. If you plan to walk up to the second lake, take plenty of water and lots of breaks unless you are accustomed to the altitude. Amazing views from every vantage point. Tons of photo ops!

This really is a must see location for scenic beauty in the US - we were so happy with our visit. Our perfect day had as much to do with visit at a low use time, and phenomenal weather, as with the scenery and hiking...More

Who would have thought an Aspen wedding in mid May would have perfect weather. There are few spots more beautiful or photogenic. Crowds are practically non-existent this time of year. Trees just beginning to bud with lots of snow to define the contour of The...More

I think Maroon Bells is somewhat overrated. Sure, the mountains in the backdrop are pretty but there are better IMHO (eg. anywhere in the Canadian Rockies, Grand Tetons, Wind River Range, Sawtooths in Idaho, etc). Also, the lake is more of a pond and quite...More

Got lucky they opened the road early on May 10 so we got to drive in to see the lake and hike the shoreline. Beautiful stop little cloudy and windy so not quite like some days but great stop. near Aspen.

Maroon Bells is a magical place. Good for those who are both active junkies, just site seekers and photographers both amature and pro. Conservative and difficult trails available to all level hikers. I love that depending on the cloud vs sun ratio or time of day...More

Watch the signs as you drive toward Maroon Bells. When you see the sign that says Maroon Bells Parking, go in there. Don't think you can drive all the way to the Maroon Bells unless you are handicapped or have children in a stroller. They'll...More

Most photographed mountain in the country. Pure paradise! Must take a bus to get there during the summer. Very small parking lot at the top. The closest a tourist is going to get to experiencing the real backcountry! A must see!

Reputed to the most accessible alpine lake in Colorado, both the lake and the view of the Maroon Bells in the distance are breathtaking. You can hike, bike ride or snowmobile to the lake depending on the season. Best time to go is in the...More

Bus service begins in June. Prior to that you must walk or ride a bike. BTW it is 8 miles to the top.
