Gorgeous in the winter!

Hiked through the area - beautiful views, lots of skiers hiking up the mountain and then coming down. Great to watch and see the old mining town of Independence.

We first took the pass at night time from our drive to Aspen from New Mexico. We didn't even know we would be driving this pass and felt a few hairy at times. We couldn't wait to drive back in the daylight. So we did 2 days later on our way to Denver. Our drive started with flurries in the... More

This road was an amazing surprise on our journey from Utah to Colorado Springs! The fall foliage was spectacular! One section of the road seemed to be hanging on the side of the mountain and it was a tight squeeze. It was breathtaking!

October 2016 we drove from twin lakes To Aspen on independence pass. Weather was beautiful sunny warm. Traffic was light. The drive is steep. Winding. Not much on side guard rails, Drive slow. Amazing Scenic views from top to bottom. A few small areas to pull over check out the views. Stop at the top, continental divide and enjoy the... More

That is a beautiful road and well worth a drive. The nature is just stunning. Take your time, as the traffic was pretty bad.

We took Independence pass this last year for a trip to Aspen, and was delighted to watch a sunset over the Rocky Mountains unlike anything we have ever seen before. It was truly breathtaking and I kick myself every time I think about it for not taking any photos.. However this drive is not for those that have issues with... More

Took the Independence Pass to Aspen from Denver. What beautiful scenery. It really is a must do. Don't listen to the people who say the road is scary it's not true. The road isn't that narrow just take it slow.

In the heart of summer don't expect to zip over Independence Pass. This road is meant to be enjoyed and shared, you'll want to stop and capture some photos along the way!
