This was a 6 hour trip and every single second was well spent. We started off by coach to the Mayan ruins. Our guide, Simone, was very informative and humourous, and gave us a thorough overview of the world of Belize. The Mayan ruins site is extremely clean and well looked after. Another guide took over for just this section... More

Never seen Mayan ruins before and dubious about the place, but my concerns were ill founded. This is a well maintained, lovely, relaxing place, not overly crowded. Our guide gave us a good outline of life in Belize and an insight into the Mayan times. Well worth the trip. Make sure you haggle the price with any taxi driver/guide.

If this is the only way to see some Mayan ruins, it's worth the visit. There are 2 large buildings, plus multiple smaller ones (or remnants), and some manicured lawns between them. Few buildings are allowed to be touched by visitors. Sadly, the structures were found from locals removing the stones for construction, while the buildings were still covered with... More

We took the city tour with Altun Ha included. I could not climb the ruins but my daughter and her friend did. It was 80 in January the day we went. But if your going in the summer it may be too hot to climb. After the climb they have a short open air market selling jewelry to food. If... More

We were on a cruise; We walked up the pier and there were many people selling tours to Altun Ha. We went with the group at the last building on the pier, found a company called Belize Caribbean tours Belizecaribbaentours.org. They asked $50, we negotiated a little lower. It sounded fair, and there were many others waiting for the bus... More

We did this tour as part of a cruise ship excursion - it was definitely worth the bus ride there! Just climbing the ruins and learning a little bit about the Mayan culture was well worth it, wish we had longer there to look around and learn more. I would definitely visit again! My 13 year old son was very... More

We picked up a local transport guide for the day to take us here and to the beach afterwards. I'm not in the best of shape, have some arthritis in my hips and back, but I was able to navigate this site, with some time. The steps are steep, and there are several individual ruins to climb on site. But... More

I felt compelled to correct an earlier review by someone who erroneously stated that Altun Ha should be avoided by Seniors because it's not easy to get to and too hard to get around. Nothing could be further from the truth. The road to Altun Ha is clearly marked and the Access Road is one of the better Roads we... More

The ruins of Altun Ha are kept up very well, and the kids loved being able to climb them. It's a bit of a drive out there though. Beautiful views of the surrounding jungles from atop the buildings. We had planned to go cave tubing, but due to rains further inland, the water level in the caves was too high... More

We took this tour, in conjunction with a river tour down the River Wallace, through our Royal Caribbean cruise. This site is simply beautiful. Its grounds are immaculately kept, and it is one of the most accessible & most thoroughly excavated of the Mayan sites in Belize. If you intend to climb the ruins, which are still allowed here at...
