This is maybe the most beautiful place in Guatemala city. This is an authentic palace made in the 1940's by the president of that time. By outside is wonderful, and for by inside is so beautiful and lovely. This is an impossible place to missed. There is tours around all days …

We tried to get in, twice, on the same weekday. Got there 20 minutes before each scheduled tour, as advertised in a stand-up sign near the entrance. The 10am tour was cancelled because of a "school group," and we were told to return at 2pm. Got there at 1:50. At 2pm, a guide told us the 2pm tour was delayed because a VIP was inside the Palace. At 2:05, he said, "Why should I lie, you're not going to stand a chance today, there won't be any more tours." So we cooled our heels for four hours, for nothing. Locally known as Palacio Verde, it was the most important building in Guatemala and headquarters of the President of Guatemala. today it is a museum but official government event are still held here.

This palacio has a great collection of both old and modern art. We had a guide, all in Spanish, and even though I don't speak a word Spanish, it was interesting, and she showed us what was worth to look at. Big halls and all the beautiful art.

Entrance is for free so I went there with local person. I'm not sure if turists can enter there as we had to leave our ID at the entrance. There is many goverment officies inside. Place is really nice and worth of visit. Defienietly I will visit it when I'm again in Guatemala
