The architecture is intriguing and worth a stop to see. The condition; however, is sadly derelict and badly in need of refreshing/remodel/cleaning. We attended a marvelous Christmas celebration on 28 November: “Víspera de Navidad”. It was delightful and the music & dance were marvelous! The vocal soloists and the musical soloists were very talented. The dancers were a bit amateurish but fun. General admission tickets were very inexpensive. The seats were great. Great building and grounds. It looks like it hasn't been touched since the day it was built. It was designed by architect Efraín Recinos.

This is a must see place in Guatemala, though they not always having plays or concerts, just visiting the place is something you wont forget. They start this year with movies projections on a special wing of the National Theater called "La Sala de Cine". It's free and you get to see guatemalan movies and international ones to. This project is from tuesdays to sundays, sundays are special for kids and family. The only thing you must take account of, is thay because is free and there are limited seats (50-60 I think) you must get early. You can find all about the proyect in facebook. They have a nice coffee shop inside and souvenirs of the movies they play for supporting this proyect.…

This experience was nice as always, we went to see the show: midsummer night's dream from Shakespeare and this show was very very nice! We love it!!! The actors and the scenes were great!!! full recommended!!!

Imagine what once was a military fortress became a magical cultural place in the shape of volcanoes. Efrain regions left this amazing place especially built for you. 5 complexes, a great view to the city, excellent acoustics, vigilance, low cost parking lot. How can people say there's no cultural activity in Guatemala?…
