While visiting the historic center of Ciudad de Guatemala, this awesome building will certainly catch your attention. This is the "Palacio de Correos", the main post office of the country's capital city. It was designed by Guatemalan architect and engineer Rafael Pérez de León and was inaugurated on November 10, 1940. It is clearly inspired by the famous "Arco de Santa Catalina" in Antigua (Guatemala) and represents the perfect fusion of 1930-1940's neo colonial and art deco styles. The monumental arch over 12ª Calle, in Zone 1, is one of the most pictured tourist attractions of Ciudad de Guatemala. A great frame for selfies! Filled with history, trendy spots, and busy life, I would highly recommend a visit to Guatemala City. You will enjoy natural beauty, Mayan culture, and wonderful Guatemalan coffee! ☕ In the Spring of 2020, I was on a business trip to Guatemala City. I took the opportunity to explore the architecture and culture of Zones 1, 4, and 10. They did not disappoint! If you start with Zine 1, don't miss the Edificio de Correos. Within its walls you will find student artwork on display, an impromptu orchestral rehearsal, ballet dancers at practice, and pristine grounds! If you can't take a self guided tour, take a snapshot of the historical arch. This magnificent edifice provides a stunning backdrop for selfies. …

This is an historical building in Guatemala, which use to be the mail headquarters in the city .. they have a lot of cultural activities now.
