We took Uber from our hotel (Westin) and started our walk in Zone 1 from San Francisco Church. From here, you have a pedestrian zone that leads you to Central Park / Plaza. We also visited the Cathedral of Guatemala and La Merced Church which are all in Zone 1.

This is more on the outskirts of the city, but not a very long walk. It is set in a large courtyard, with superb trees, both the main and the side facades are wonderful. The interior of the church is just as beautiful, with interesting sculptures and reredos, sadly, at the moment the reredos of the main altar has been removed, temporarily I hope, and there is a photographic facsimile in its place. However, this is a church which is much used by its parishioners, so it is hard of access for a lot of the day, it is usually open to tourists in the later afternoon.…

Definitely visit.It's a beautiful church in Guatemala. It's on 6 av. and worth the walk to stop in for a few minutes.

We actually attended a funeral at the Iglesia. I asked our travel tour guide about the beautiful colors of curtains, cloths, etc. in each church we saw, as they all looked brand new. He informed me that the churches change the color of their decor with the seasons! A beautiful way to pray!…
