Worth paying he small entrance fee, Mima offers a fascinating window on the life of its owners. The rooms are beautifully preserved and the courtyard is full of lovely blooming plants that attract tiny humming birds.

Interesting place with many old/antique objects set up like a functioning house. A lot of the items are of French origin, but it features elements from very different parts of the world. Entrance is reasonable (q20 for a visit of about 50 minutes), but you have to pay extra if you want to use a camera (q25).…

This little curio was a wonderful little diversion in Guatemala City. Walking into the reception, you are immediately greeted by a swathe of period floral wallpaper. There are lockers in reception to leave bags, and the reception area is guarded by a security man. If you want to take photos inside, you have to pay a small extra fee. Once inside, you can wander at leisure through the house and admire the period decorations and furniture of this 1800s house. The kitchen and the bathroom were of particular interest, especially the chaise-longue in the bathroom, where people would "recover from the exertions of bathing". Each room has an information card in both Spanish and English and there is a delightful garden. It is a real oasis in the hustle and bustle of Guatemala City and we had the place to ourselves. This small but beautiful museum has a lot of things that will really transport you to a time when life was full of details. You can see how people lived in this type of home. The price is nice but you have to pay extra for taking photos, but it really worths it.
